Title: Power of the Cross (Ex 15:25)
Description When the Israelites left Egypt and headed for Canaan, they went through the wilderness of Sur. They were suffering because there was no water. They found water in Marah, but they could not drink it because it was bitter. Then Moses prayed and threw a tree into the water, and the water became sweet.
Today, people live with (the bitter water of sin). It is the power of the cross of Jesus Christ that sweetens this water. John Newton, the great evangelist, theologian, and hymn writer, was born in England, lost his mother at the age of 7 and grew up crooked. I did. He began to learn the bad habits of sailors by sailing, and later became a heartless man and did all sorts of bad things.
But his mother was a person who prayed with tears for her son's faith. A mother's prayer for her son was never in vain, falling to the ground. One day, while Newton was sailing across the Atlantic Ocean, a great storm struck. In an instant, the ship was on the verge of shipwreck, and the entire ship became a chaos. Then Newton remembered his mother's prayer as a child, took out the Bible he had always kept in his pocket, and said to God, [God of my mother, forgive me of all my sins and give me one chance. If you rescue me from this death, I will dedicate my life to the Lord.”
The moment he prayed this, he was transformed. Bitter water was turned into sweet water. When the terrifying sea calmed down, he was no longer what he was. He became a new born person as a great evangelist, theologian, and hymn writer.
Jesus Christ has the amazing power to turn the bitter waters of our lives into sweet ones. Today, we live in the bitter bitter waters of anxiety and fear. There are so many people who seem to be living with goodwill and enjoying material abundance, but in reality, they cannot find peace of mind and are in despair. The only way we can find peace is through Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the only one who can turn the bitter waters of our lives into sweet ones.
Prayer: Praise the saving power of Jesus Christ. Please help our family believe in the grace of the cross and live a life that always gives thanks to God. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
