Title: Praise Him / Psalm 150:1-6
Praise the content
Scripture: Psalm 150:1-6 Hymns; 43, 23, 34, 29,
This psalm is the concluding poem of the psalm. It gives an important lesson about praising God.
1. A place of praise
The place to praise God is the sanctuary. Because the sanctuary is where God dwells. Where God is, there must be praise. We must also praise God in the firmament of his power. The firmament is a space created by God. God is to be praised in every realm he has created.
Psalm 148:1 says, “Praise on high.”
Psalm 148:7 says, "Praise the Lord from the earth."
Psalm 149:1 says, "Praise be in the congregation of the saints."
Psalm 149:5 tells us to “sing for joy in bed.”
In Genesis 9, it says, "Noah praised the LORD, the God of Shem, in his tent."
In Genesis 49, it is said, "Jacob sang in his sick bed."
Exodus 14 says that Israel was praising "by the shore of the wilderness"
Moses sang praises "at the general assembly" (Deuteronomy 32),
Hannah “in the house of the Lord” (1 Samuel 2),
David sang "in war".
Paul praised “in prison” (Acts 15:25),
Our Lord also glorified "in the way of death."
2. Reasons to praise
We should praise God for his mighty deeds, and we should praise him for his exceeding greatness. When we look at all things in the universe, we marvel at God's amazing work of creation. It is man's duty to praise the God who created this vast universe.
(Hab 3:17-18) “Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I rejoice in the LORD. I will rejoice in the God of my salvation."
It is an amazing confession that you can rejoice and praise God even because your God is your savior. What conditions are there for praising God, and what reasons are there? It is only praising God with all his free sincerity.
3. Ways of Praise
How should we praise? Praise with the sound of the trumpet and praise with the strings and trumpet. All instruments should be used to praise. If there is an indentation, it should be praised with all its mouths. Just as David praised and jumped with joy without knowing that his clothes were being taken off, we should praise God the Creator with all our might.
Praise can be done by clapping (Psalm 47:1), raising hands (Nehemiah 8:6), dancing (Psalm 149:3), walking, and jumping (2 Samuel 6:16).
4. Those who should praise
So who should praise? Are only certain humans praising God? It is not. Anyone who has breath must praise God. Not only humans, but also flying birds and beasts that crawl on the ground, all beings that have breath should praise God. Even plants that cannot speak should praise God. All creation should praise God.
Let everyone who is called by my name come, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made” (Isaiah 43:7). This people I have formed for myself, that they may sing my praises (Isaiah 43:21).
Hallelujah! It is good to praise our God; it is beautiful and deserves to be praised. (Psalm 147:1).
Job 36:24 "Do not forget to praise the works of God, for life has made them sing."
"If I were a nightingale, I would sing like a nightingale
If I were a lark, I would fly like a lark.
Knowing God, loving God, praising God endlessly
What shall I do as a man other than to glorify my Creator?"
Psalm 148:1-2 tells us to praise the “angels of heaven” and also to praise the irrational ones (Psalm 148:3-10).
Psalm 148:7-13 says, “Praise the Lord on the earth, you dragons and seas, with fire and hail and snow and mist and storms at his word, mountains and all hills and trees and all cedars, beasts and all cattle and creeping things and birds, kings of the earth, and all peoples, and princes, and all judges of the earth, young men and virgins, old men and children, praise the name of the LORD, for his name alone is exalted, and his glory is above heaven and earth." .
Luke 19:40 says, "I tell you, if these people keep silent, the stones will cry out."
5. Time of Praise
How long do you praise? You should praise it until the moment you stop breathing. No, we must praise God in the eternal world after death. Because God is in control of this life and the life to come.
When we are happy (James 5:13) or when we are sad (Job 1:21),
When we are discouraged and anxious (Psalm 42:5-6), in poverty (Psalm 74:21), when we are sick (Acts 3:8),
Praise from time to time (Psalm 34:1), daily (Psalm 96:2),
For a lifetime (Psalm 104:33), until death (Psalm 104:33),
From generation to generation (Psalm 145:4)
And from eternity to eternity (Psalm 106:48) is to be praised.
A Korean will speak Korean, a Chinese will speak Chinese, and a Japanese will speak Japanese. Then, what will the saints, the people of the kingdom of heaven, say?
It will be thanksgiving and praise. The words of the kingdom of heaven are praises to God who is worthy to be glorified for ever and ever. The life of a saint is only a life of praise.
