Title: Praise the Lord/Judges 5:1-9
Contents The Israelites had their own reasons for praising God. It is because by the power of God, they defeated Jabin, king of Canaan, and won the war. People should be thankful for everything, always rejoice and pray without ceasing, and there are times when we need to give thanks and praise even more.
1. It is because the people followed the leader and went to war.
(Judges 5:1) On that day Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam sang, saying, (Judges 5:2) Praise the Lord, for the chief of Israel led him, and the people dedicated themselves with joy (Judges 5:3). Hear, you kings; give ear, you princes; I, I, I will sing to the LORD, and I will praise the LORD, the God of Israel." For the sake of the country, the leaders exerted great strength and the people have joined the war with joy. The leaders and the people all participated in the war with joy and sang the triumph of victory, so why not sing praises to God? If the leader and the crowd consistently devote themselves to the country and people, there is hope for the future of the country and people.
2. Because God's help was constant.
(Judges 5:4) The earth shook, and the heavens leaked, and the clouds sent water, when you, O LORD, came out of Seir and went on your way from the fields of Edom. also trembled before the LORD, the God of Israel." We give praise to God in gratitude for God's help from the beginning to the end when God freed the Israelites from their suffering in Egypt, helped them in the wilderness, and led them to Canaan. When you receive help in the present, you cannot help but think about the help of the past. That is why we give thanks to God for helping us from the beginning until now.
3. It is because the people were willing to dedicate themselves.
The text says, "(Judges 5:9) My heart longs for the princes of Israel, for they have dedicated themselves with gladness among the people; Praise the Lord." It was because Deborah told them to praise God, but the people voluntarily devoted themselves for the country and nation with a joyful heart. That's right. When the saints realize the grace of salvation and dedicate themselves to God with gratitude and with joy for the church members, the people who see them cannot but be happy and especially the servants of the Lord cannot help but give thanks and praise to God. The psalmist said, “(Ps. 116:12) With what shall I repay all the favors the Lord has given me?” “(Ps 51:12) Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, grant me a willing spirit, and sustain me. 13) Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will turn to you." I did. When the members volunteer and dedicate themselves to God, all the members should praise God.
