Watching for your sake, always striving to ask, asking for the sake of the saints,
Ephesians 6:19 And ask for me, that I may open my mouth,
Let me boldly reveal the mystery of the gospel.
Ephesians 6:20 It is through me that I have become an ambassador in chains for this purpose.
so that we may be bold in what we should say in our affairs.
entry
Last week we learned that our prayers and supplications, our intercessory prayers for the many cities, give us strength and power to put to good use the full armor of God.
Therefore, it is a blessing that we can pray. This is because prayer is the means of spiritual communication between us and God, the proof that the spirit of the saints is alive, and the breath of the soul. As a spiritual soldier, it is prayer that equips you and gives you strength so that you can continue to fight.
Prayer is beeping to God and calling for SOS emergency rescue. It is a way to let God's presence and power come into my life.
How are you leading your prayer life?
I believe that the members of the Lord's Lord Church are good at spiritual breathing.
Today, God told us as spiritual soldiers that we must pray and make supplications for ourselves and do what we must do for the various saints.
In verses 19-20, the apostle Paul asks the Ephesian church members to pray for him while in prison in Rome.
If we are in this kind of tribulation, if we are in the same situation as Paul, what kind of prayer can we ask from our friends or from the pastor?
In general, what kind of prayers have we asked for the most?
For my family, for my children, for my husband, for my health...
This is not to say that this prayer request is wrong. But if it's just for this purpose, isn't it too me-centered, human-centered, and selfish?
What kind of prayer is Paul asking for?
Saints ./ I am now imprisoned in Rome as a prisoner while preaching the gospel, so please pray to God so that I can get out of here quickly.
I am suffering and suffering for no reason right now. I do not have good sleep, food and health....Did I ask you to pray for this? No.
In today's Word, how should we pray for ourselves? How should we pray for another member? Especially for pastors, he teaches how to pray.
Paul says in verse 19:
“Ask for me, give me the word, and open my mouth
Let me boldly reveal the mystery of the gospel.”
Paul is asking God to pray that God will give him two things in this verse.
1. “Give me the Word” - Pray that God will give me the Word.
There will be many inconveniences and many needs in a Roman prison, but Paul is not asking for another prayer, but for the sake of his message.
Pray for the Gospel to be shared with the prisoners I meet, the jailers, the interrogators, and the millions of people I meet.
Pray that God will give me the Word of God to give them freedom of soul.
In Matthew 10, Jesus called the 12 disciples, gave them power to cast out unclean spirits and heal all diseases and diseases, and told them to go to the lost sheep of Israel and preach that the kingdom of heaven is at hand. In verse 18 he said:
Matthew 10:18 And you will be brought before governors and kings because of me,
to be a witness to them and to the Gentiles.
Matthew 10:19 Do not worry about how or what you will say when you hand them over.
What time will you give me to speak?
Matthew 10:20 It is not you who speak, but he who speaks in you.
the Holy Spirit of your Father
Jesus told his disciples not to be anxious in the presence of anyone or under any circumstances, for the Holy Spirit of your Father will give you something to say. Paul was asking the saints to pray that God would give me the word as Jesus said.
We pray for pastors, but we must especially pray that God's word will come abundantly.
Paul not only asked the Ephesian church members to pray like this, but also the Colossian church members. These are the words written in the same Roman prison in Colossians.
Col 4:2 Persevere in prayer, watchful in it with thanksgiving
Col 4:3 Pray also for us, that God may open the door for us to preach, that we may tell the mystery of Christ; for this I have been bound.
Col 4:4 Then I will reveal this mystery with the words I ought to say.
“Pray for us, asking God to open the door for us to preach, so that we may speak the mystery of Christ, and I will reveal this mystery with the words I ought to say.”
When you pray like this for the pastor, the word of God will come more abundantly.
Why should we pray for God's Word to come abundantly?
This is because as the end draws near, people prefer to listen to the pleasures of the flesh rather than longing to hear the word of God, and they prefer to listen to what the TV says rather than what God says.
Amos 8:11 Behold, the days come, saith the Sovereign LORD, that I will bring a famine upon the land.
not to hunger for lack of bread, not to thirst for lack of water
The famine of hearing the word of the LORD.
Amos 8:12 A man staggers from sea to sea, from north to east,
They run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, but cannot find it.
Amos 8:13 In that day the beautiful virgin and the young man will both be thirsty and weary.
If the word of God does not come to the prophet, then the word of God cannot be preached.
If the word of God is not proclaimed, people stagger from sea to sea from north to east, running to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, but they cannot find it.
When the light of God's word does not come, then it is a dark age. Sin abounds.
When God's word was not preached, God's people became servants of the devil and worshiped idols, and they did not even know that eating and drinking of sin was a sin.
When the pure word of God from God is proclaimed on this earth, the future of this country will shine. When the Word of God is proclaimed in our hearts, our hearts shine brightly.
What did you say in Psalm 119:105?
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
When the word of God flourishes, the kingdom of God will expand.
When you pray to God for the pastor, especially for the pastor, I pray that the Word will come fully.
2. Let me open my mouth boldly to reveal the mystery of the gospel.
The first was a request for prayer for the Word to come, and the second was a request to pray so that anyone would have the courage to boldly share the word of God that came to him.
boldly: confident, free from all things, without restraint
Although Paul was restricted from physical activity in prison, he asks for prayers so that the word of God that has come to him can be freely witnessed everywhere.
The evil adversary could put Paul in prison, but not the Word of God with him.
Our adversary can limit our bodies and sometimes our environment, but not the gospel that is with us.
Therefore, a spiritual soldier must have courage. You shouldn't be bound by anything. In particular, we must be bold in front of the Word, and boldly use the sword of the Word in front of our enemies.
A spiritual leader must have courage and courage.
God appeared to Joshua, who had succeeded Moses as the leader, and the message was to be bold.
Joshua 1:6 Be strong, be courageous, you are this people, and I
I will swear to my ancestors that I will inherit the land
Joshua 1:7 But be strong and very courageous, and observe all the laws of the law that Moses my servant commanded you, and do not turn to the left or to the right, so that you may prosper wherever you go.
Joshua 1: 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.
Hebrews 10:35 Therefore do not forsake your courage, for this has a great reward.
Heb 10:36 You need patience, so that after you have done the will of God you may receive the promise.
Heb 10:37 After a little while, he who is coming will come, and he will not delay.
Heb 10:38 But my righteous one shall live by faith; and if he turns back,
My heart will not rejoice in him.
In the book of Acts, Paul boldly preached the gospel wherever he went thanks to the prayers of the saints.
Paul preached the gospel of salvation in Antioch, Cybidia.
Acts 13:44 On the next sabbath day, almost all the city gathered together to hear the word of God.
Acts 13:45 When the Jews saw the crowd, they were full of envy, and they refuted and slandered what Paul had said.
Acts 13:46 Paul and Barnabas spoke boldly, saying, The word of God ought
First of all I will tell you, but you are not worthy to throw it away and have eternal life.
We turn to the Gentiles, calling ourselves to be strangers.
Acts 13:47 Thus the Lord has commanded us: I have made you a light to the Gentiles.
I will make you save to the ends of the earth.”
Acts 13:48 When the Gentiles heard it, they rejoiced and praised the word of God, and had eternal life.
All who were ordained believed believed.
Acts 14:1 Then at Iconium the two apostles went together into the synagogue of the Jews.
and a great multitude of Jews and Greeks believed.
Acts 14:2 But the disobedient Jews stirred up the hearts of the Gentiles,
You make your brothers hate you
Acts 14:3 The two apostles stayed a long time, speaking boldly through the Lord, and the Lord
He testifies of the word of his grace by causing his hands to perform signs and wonders.
closing words
Whether he was in Roman prison or wherever he was, Paul's interest was in the gospel.
Paul's hope is only to preach the gospel, so he longed for the work of salvation to be accomplished through him and to make Christ exalted.
If you look at the words in Acts 4:33, it says, “The crowds received great favor because the apostles testified of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus with great power.”
The prayers of the heart of the members for the pastor let the word of God come abundantly.
By boldly bearing witness to the pastor, great grace will come.
