Title: Pray for One Another
James 5:12-20 Pray for one another Topic: 50. Tribulation 2008. 7. 27.
◎ Introduction
: How can we overcome the test of life?
※ There are two steps.
① Wait for the second coming of the Lord and be patient (James 5:7~11)
② Respond appropriately to each situation (James 5:12-20)
※ The text is what we should take while we live in the world.
1. Do not swear (12)
2. Pray and sing (13~18)
3. Visit (19~20)
1. Do not swear (12)
※ “Above all, you shall not swear.” Human words must be clear, certain, and truthful. Otherwise, they curse or swear. (Because a person's words indicate the condition)
One). form of oath
① guarantee of trust ② habitual frivolity ③ hypocritical ④ covert general
⑤ avoidant ⑥ self-satisfied vows
2). Neither heaven (God's throne) nor earth (God's footstool) swear by anything.
3). By speaking truthfully, it should be our assurance.
“Yes, I swear. I swear before God,” not “I will. No” (Matthew 5:37).
※ An oath or curse is that the subject is unreliable (doubtful). Nevertheless, people habitually accept oaths and curses. (Matthew 5:13, 37, Col 4:6, 2 Tim 1:13, Titus 2:7-8)
2. Pray and sing (13-18)
One). Pray and sing in affliction and joy (13)
※ When we face hardships, God wants us to ask God for power and salvation first, and to ask for courage to be a good witness in the process of overcoming.
※ We must fight and overcome all kinds of trials and trials through prayer.
* Tests such as worldliness, lust, and pride.
* Thinking, discouragement, distrust, difficult times, cherishing bad emotions.
※ What to look for
* God's presence and guidance,
* God's power and strength to overcome trials well,
* Ask for courage to be a living witness of salvation.
(1 Chronicles 16:11, Matt 7:7-8, Luke 18:1, John 16:24, Ephesians 6:18, James 5:13)
※ When there are no difficulties, He wants to praise and enjoy God.
① Pray for those who are afflicted
② Let him who rejoices sing praises
※ Meaning that we must show that we do not walk like the people of the world, rejoice in the Lord, and that there is joy in the Lord
to be. (Luke 10:20, Romans 15:9, Hebrews 13:15, 1 Peter 2:9, Psalm 9:11, 67:3)
2). Pray for healing (14-15)
※ Are there any sick among us? The situation must be overcome.
* A dear brother is ill. It is an incurable disease. You have to spend the rest of your life lying in bed.
* What should pastors and leaders do? Should I say accept the pain?
③ Pray of faith
* Sick people, pastors, and leaders should not give in to the trials of disease. We should pray with expectation (pray of faith) knowing that the Lord will heal the sick.
※ Reasons for anointing the sick
① Oil is a symbol of the presence of the Holy Spirit. * Help the sick focus their attention on the presence and power of the Holy Spirit.
② Oil is a symbol of God's care for us, comfort, joy, and mercy.
* Oil creates faith in God's will to fill the heart of the sick with joy by focusing real attention (Hebrews 1:9).
3). Confess to each other and pray (16-18)
※ When we sin, He reminds us that we should confess our sins to each other and pray for each other.
* Do you mean to go around confessing all your unclean and ugly sins? : no. must be wise
① When to confess your sins
* When wrong or injustice done to someone else.
* When you mislead someone but lie to him.
* When you have committed a sin against someone, but you have caused him to stumble and cause him to sin.
* When compensation for damages should be made. * When you have committed a crime in public that requires public forgiveness.
* When a pastor or counselor can help in seeking to repent and restore before God and people.
② The reason we should confess our mistakes
* To be able to pray for comfort. * “The prayers of the righteous have great power” (16).
