Title: Pray Like Daniel
Text: Daniel 6:10-15
Bill Gates once said this on a TV show.
His wife is a staunch Catholic, but she does not go to church with her.
This mindset is the universal mindset of many people today.
Modern people have a rationalistic mindset that prioritizes scientific versatility and economic interests, so they have a lot of resistance to prayer as well as religion.
There is even the theory of prayer dance that asks what to do and why to pray.
On the other hand, there are many people who find the object of prayer wrong.
Recognizing that life is not on their own, they seek a god they can turn to and seek fortune tellers.
So there are two kinds of people in the world.
Humanists who live on their own, and people who think that prayer is necessary, but the target of that prayer is the wrong one.
To these people, today's text clearly shows that their thinking is wrong.
Daniel was taken captive by King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon in 605 BC.
By the grace of God, he ascended to the position of prime minister, and King Darius of Media also appointed Daniel as prime minister.
Then the other prime ministers and princes are jealous and try to overthrow Daniel.
It was forbidden to bow down to any god other than the king for 30 days, and to put him in a lion's den if he violated it.
Still, Daniel continued to pray.
How did Daniel pray?
First, he died and prayed.
In verse 10, we can see that Daniel opened the window toward Jerusalem and prayed three times a day, as he had done before.
Daniel prayed even though he knew that others were watching him for accusation.
It is a prayer that is immortal.
I was able to pray like that because I was confident that God heard my prayers.
Exodus 2:24 says that God heard the people of Israel's suffering.
God hears our prayers.
So, the most important premise for Christians is the belief that God hears.
There is no one to risk their life to pray without knowing whether God is listening or not, and not even sure.
Daniel had faith that God heard his prayers, so he prayed without dying death.
The second was prayer based on God's faithfulness.
Daniel believed in God's faithfulness.
The next day after putting him in the lions' den, King Darius came to Daniel early in the morning.
Dario did not ask Daniel if you were alive, but asked if the LORD, whom you always serve, had delivered you.
He asked if your God, whom you believed and followed as your savior, really delivered you according to his promise.
Prayer should be based on the faithful character of God.
Because God is faithful, if we strive to live according to His will, struggle, and pray, God will not forsake us and He will surely save us.
So when we pray, we should not pray for help vaguely, but we should hold on to God's promises and pray based on God's faithful disposition.
Praying like this is a personal prayer.
Trusting and praying for God's faithfulness in any seemingly impossible situation is not a futile struggle, but a natural effort for God's faithful assurance. When we pray like that, God will save us.
Third, it was a prayer that sought God's will.
Daniel's prayer was always a prayer that sought God's will.
The content of Daniel's prayer is clearly shown in chapter 9. Daniel, who sought God's will, realized God's will during prayer.
As in 9:2, they are rebellious people of Judah who have left God, but they will receive the promise of hope that they will return to Jerusalem after 70 years.
We should seek God's will when we pray.
God has something He wants to accomplish for us.
But I don't know about it and I only get what I want.
You are only praying too much wish-oriented.
The spirit of prayer is not to carry out my will. Do we really stand before God? You must be concerned about whether you are seeking the will of God.
In that sense, Daniel's prayer teaches us what true prayer is.
Daniel prayed with the window open toward Jerusalem with an attitude of absolute faith in God. I prayed without dying death, and I believed in God's faithfulness and prayed. And I always sought God's will.
I hope all of our middle and high school students will always pray for the will of God. At that time, God will save us and raise us up as noble people.
