Contents Pray like this / Luke 11:1-13
Key Verse: “Again I say to you, ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you. ” (verses 9-10)
In today's Word, the Lord teaches us about prayer and the Lord's Prayer. Of course, it can be said that it is brief compared to the Lord's Prayer recorded in Matthew 6, but the core content is almost the same. The coming of God and the kingdom of God and His people We make it clear that we should pray for our lives as people.
The teachings of Jesus through this parable are clear. Even among humans, we can receive the help we need because of our 'strength', much less that 'God is more so.' It becomes clear from the successive words of verses 9-11. In particular, in verse 9, the imperative form of 'ask', 'find' and 'knock' is all in Greek, 'continue to ask', 'continue to seek', and 'continue to knock' It teaches us that we need to pray without giving up and asking God for it when we see that it contains.
If the above mentioned 'how' or 'in what manner' to pray, he is also teaching us about how to ask for 'something'. In verse 3, the 'flesh food (material necessity)' needed every day. In verse 13, God promises to give them even if they ask for a 'good thing', the 'Spirit'. When the disciples of Jesus seek everything they need every moment and live their lives, God provides not only material needs but also the power of the Holy Spirit, which is the basis of life. You are teaching me to give.
As someone has expressed, prayer can be said to be labor. In connection with today's Word, prayer can also be said to be 'training'. It is difficult because it is labor and requires effort because it is training. don't you? Rather than living by seeking everything moment by moment, aren't we praying only when difficulties arise? The Lord is telling us to pray for all things more earnestly.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for loving us and caring for and taking care of us even in the smallest details of our lives. Help us to live in such a way that we can rely more on you through prayer. In Jesus' name Amen.
