Text/ Acts 2:42
1. Introduction
In the past few weeks, I told you that the first church people in this world had a church life, that they received the Word with all their hearts, and that they had fellowship (koinonia) with all their hearts. We would like to share grace while meditating on the topic.
2. What is the essence of prayer?
To pray is to meditate according to academic distinctions according to people or religions. to sail clean the road Meditate. Contemplation> is expressed in words. Its essence is one.
The essence of prayer is the spiritual/mental channel that connects God (the infinite being) and man (the finite being). In analogy, a prayer is a wire that carries electricity from a power plant to your home. It is a pipe that connects the reservoir water to the house. No matter how much electricity the power plant has or how much water there is in the reservoir, it cannot be used unless it is connected with wires and pipes.
Prayer is the wire and pipe that is supplied with God's infinite cosmic energy, clear and spiritual spiritual wisdom, and the ontological power of being full of meaning and love.
Therefore, the Bible says, “Pray! Pray! Pray!>
o Call to me, and I will answer you... (Jeremiah 33:3).
o Ask me, and I will give the nations as an inheritance... (Psalm 2:8).
o Call on me in the day of trouble, and I will deliver you... and I will glorify you (Psalm 50:15).
o If you cry out to me and pray, I will hear... (Jeremiah 29:12-13).
o Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock... (Matthew 7:7-11).
o Whatever you pray and ask, believe that you have received it.. (Matthew 21:22, Mark 11:23-24).
o If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it (John 14:17, 15:7-16).
o In the same way, they must ask me to do it for them (Ezekiel 36:37).
There are people in this world who have nothing connected to the power plant/reservoir of God's power. Someone has connected a 10mm wire/pipe. Somebody has connected 100mm wires/pipes. Prayer is the wire and pipe that connects God and people so that they can receive God's power. Our wires and pipes will have to be inspected for broken, worn and worn-out holes.
3. How do you pray?
Prayer is hearing and hearing. I'm going to tell the living God my circumstances in detail. And listen carefully to what God has to say. In this way, prayer is heard and heard. Hearing without Aron is a delusion, and Aron without hearing is a complaint. Prayer is not a monologue of man or God alone. Prayer is a two-way dialogue between man and God.
So how do you pray? You can say it out loud. You can do it in writing. You can think deeply about prayer topics. You can read the Word, hold on to the Word of grace, and meditate deeply repeatedly. Prayer is not just about closing your eyes and saying things. All of our physical, material, mental, and spiritual problems are addressed to God in words, thoughts, meditations, or in writing.
4. Then, what is prayer with all your heart?
first. It is a prayer of one heart. As a thirsty person thinks of water, as a hungry person thinks of food, like a lion glaring at its prey, concentrate with one mind and pray to God to fulfill the prayer request. When it rained, Elijah went up to the top of Mount Carmel, knelt on the ground, and put his face between his knees and prayed earnestly. The rain fell, and King Hezekiah was well and wept and prayed that he would be healed. You have extended your life by 15 years.
second. This is a regular prayer. Moses went up Mount Sinai for 40 days and prayed to God. Jesus fasted and prayed for 40 days in the wilderness. Daniel prayed three times a day at a set time. 120 The disciples did not disperse and prayed in Mark's upper room. To pray with all your heart is to pray strictly according to the set period, time, and place.
third. It is a prayer offered by meditating on the Word. It is said that prayer is hearing and hearing. Arion is a human word, and listening is reading and meditating on the Word of God, the Bible. If you just preach the Bible without listening to it, you may fall into the devil's temptation and give up your faith with doubt and despair. Therefore, first of all, the people of the first church in this world received the Word with all their heart.
5. Closing Story
Working hard with a blunt axe blade is like driving a car with the handbrake on. A wise man first sharpens his ax and works. First, lower the handbrake and drive (Ecclesiastes 10:10). Prayer is raising the ax blade and lowering the hand brake. So many things require a lot of prayer.
