Title: Prayer with movement (James 01:5-8)
(2) He is a God who gives generously. God is abundant. No matter how rich you are in this world, no matter how rich you are, you cannot escape from deprivation of one or two things. For example, there are those who have riches but lack spiritual grace, and there are many who are rich in knowledge but poor in wealth. A person lives by feeling the lack of something. Although the United States is said to be the richest country in the world, there are over three million unemployed people without a job. The only one who is rich is our God. God likes to give us abundantly whatever we ask for. If you ask for wisdom, you will get wisdom; if you ask for power, you will get power; if you ask for health, you will get health. He is a God who gives whatever he asks for, without any need. Father who is abundant in grace, I pray in the name of the Lord that you pray to God who gives abundantly everything.
(3) He is a God who does not rebuke. God is a God who is not only abundant, but also has absolute toleration and does not condemn. The Lord said, “If a person is evil, and knows how to give good things, will your Father who is in heaven give more good things?” He said of his generosity. Also, in John 15, he said, “If you ask anything in my name, I will give it to you.” Indeed, God is a God of generosity. No matter how generous a person is, if we ask him too many times, he thinks it badly and rejects it, but God is more pleased the more we ask in faith.
2. Ask only in faith. Verse 6 says, “Ask in faith, and do not doubt at all. He who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.” We must first believe before we pray. The prayers of those who do not have faith in the promise are only a fa ade. So, when James urged us to ask in faith, he added: “Have no doubts.” We must believe in him, the Creator of all things, the righteous one who truly does good and bad, and the infinitely true and loving Savior who makes a redemptive covenant with the elect and comes to fulfill it for thousands of years. “He who doubts is like a wave of the sea,” he said. The sea is a symbol of unrest (Isa 57:20) As the owner of unbelief does not have stability in his heart, there is no unity in his actions and at the same time there is no peace in his life.
