Title: Precious Faith (2 Peter 1:1-2)

precious faith

2 Peter 1:1-2

In Luke 18 there is an account of a blind man. As Jesus passed by, he called out to the Lord in a loud voice despite the criticisms of others. Eventually, the Lord meets him and opens his eyes as he wishes. The Lord said, “Your faith has saved you.” You have seen miracles by faith. By faith Abraham also obtained Isaac, Jacob received material blessings, and Israel conquered Canaan. David overcame wild beasts and Paul overcame many adversities. In this way, belief produces wonderful powers.

However, the miraculous power that all believers can experience is the power of the blood of Jesus. In today's verse 3, “by his miraculous power” is connected with “by the righteousness of Christ” in verse 1. The power is revealed through the blood of Jesus. Nothing in this world can wash away human sins, but the blood of Jesus can. “… Forgiveness from the vain deeds inherited from your forefathers... with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” (1 Peter 1:18-19). The blood of Jesus saves anyone from the punishment of hell.

The first way the blood of Christ justifies us is to cut us off from the power of sin. Everyone is bound by the chains of sin and cannot be completely free, but the blood of Jesus breaks this chain. The second is to erase the traces of sin. Many of the mental hospital patients are said to have gotten sick because they could not shake off past sins. But the blood of Jesus erases all sins. The third is justification. There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1). The Lord declares that we are innocent and righteous.

The power of the blood of Jesus is also in giving life. Verse 3 of today's text says that all things pertaining to life have been given to us. The blood of Christ not only solves sin, but it also gives life. it will give you eternal life Monk Seongcheol practiced without sleep for 8 years and practiced the Way in the mountains for a total of 16 years. Then, when he died, he confessed that his sins were greater than Mt. Sumisan and that he would go to hell because of his sins. He recognized his sin, but could not find a way to solve it and went to hell. It was his limit. However, the Bible says that those who believe in Jesus will be given the right to become children of God (John 1:12) and will be saved (Acts 16:31). Salvation is given by the blood of Jesus, that is, eternal life. This was the faith of the early church members. It was because of their faith in eternal life that they did not deny the Lord and kept their faith in the face of severe persecution.

The blood of Christ also leads us to godliness. Verse 3 of today's text says that by his miraculous power he gave all things pertaining to godliness. The Bible calls us weak earthen vessels. It is easily damaged, dirty, and crumbles. Recently, a high school girl committed suicide because she was pessimistic about her grades. Many people commit suicide. it's weak But the blood of Jesus overcomes weakness. A young man committed many sins and wandered before he came to believe in Jesus. After that, every time I lived in the world, I had a chance to sin. However, despite the conflict, he continued to overcome sin and forsake it, moving forward into a victorious life. According to his confession, it is a pleasure to forsake sins. These changes are possible only through the blood of Jesus. The blood makes us partakers of the divine nature.

The blood of Jesus is stronger than any authority in the world. So great and blessed. Kim Ik-doo, a thug, John Newton, a slave trader, and the fallen Augustine were transformed by the blood of Jesus. And he became a pious man of his time. The blood of Jesus changes the character. Those who have the power of the blood of Jesus enjoy the blessings of grace and peace (text verse 2). May this blessing be mine and yours.
