Precious Jesus lying in a manger (Luke 2:1-12)
Let us immediately know who the protagonist of Christmas is and worship right away. The term Christmas is a term specific to Jesus. The births of Confucius, Mencius, Shakyamuni, and Muhammad are not called Nativity. This is because the ancestors of all religions are rooted in human blood. However, because Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit and was born of a virgin body, it is called the holy birth, or Christmas. (Matthew 1:18) Christmas is the day to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Let's celebrate Christmas with a heart of heartfelt congratulations on Jesus' birth centering on Jesus.
Ⅰ.Jesus was born in history (1~3)
It is a historical fact that Caesar Augustus appeared and issued a family register. Therefore, it proves that the birth of Jesus is also a historical fact. Some view the birth of Jesus as a myth, while others deny the historical Jesus. But the birth of Jesus is not a myth, but a historical fact. Although Jesus is God, He took on human flesh and came into this world to save sinners. We must believe in the historical Jesus.
Saints! He is a watershed in history. Let's take Jesus Christ, who has left the heavenly throne and came to the lowly and lowly earth, in our hearts, and live according to His guidance.
Ⅱ.Jesus came as King (4,5)
It is with great sincerity that the Gentiles came from far away when the Jews did not know the birth of their king. Let us celebrate Jesus, who was born on this earth more than 2,000 years ago, with all our heart, like the wise men of the East who did not hesitate to travel a long way and ran to congratulate us. I hope that you will accept that Jesus as my Savior and my King and live under His rule. Obedience to His Rule Brings Peace to Our Hearts
Ⅲ. Jesus with nowhere to go (6, 7)
Although Jesus' conception was accomplished in a miraculous way (a special method of reproduction), the growing baby in the womb was according to a normal process. This shows that Jesus will redeem all mankind through the same process of growth with the same disposition as ours. Jesus, who came in a human body, went through the same process of birth and growth as we do, so he was tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin (Hebrews 4:15).
Laying Jesus in a manger is very important, and it shows that Jesus, the Messiah, came to this world in a lowly and humbled state. This contrasts with the glory of Augustus, the ruler of the world at that time (verses 1, 11, 14), and symbolizes the humility and suffering of Jesus, the Son of God and Son of Man, who has nowhere to lay his head (9:58).
Not only at birth, but also later. (John 1:10,11) Today, Jesus is knocking on the door of our hearts. (Rev 3:20) Let's open the door of our heart and live by receiving the Lord as our Savior in our heart. This Christmas, let's be a time to reflect on whether I am living with the Lord or standing outside the door.
Our Lord came into this world to be with us. And he will come again to lead us to heaven on the day we are finished as strangers in this world. (John 14:3) At that time, let's go out and meet with confidence. I hope that we can welcome them by saying, “Amen, come, Lord Jesus.”
Ⅳ. The birth of Jesus is good news (8-10)
It is significant that the shepherd was the first witness of Christmas. It is the fact that the gospel was first transmitted to people who were disrespected in society at that time. Luke emphasizes this fact several times in his Gospel. Furthermore, this implies that Jesus is the Lamb who will sacrifice His body to God for mankind, like the Good Shepherd who spares even his life for the sheep (Matthew 20:18; John 1:29).
Verse 10, “The angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will come to all the people. We cannot help but fear before the glorious presence of God. To those who trembled in fear, God's message was a word of comfort not to be afraid.
Those who do not enjoy the peace of the Lord today are trembling with fear. We live in fear and anxiety. At this time, the angel of the Lord is preaching the gospel, telling the chosen people not to be afraid.
Saints! He gives true peace that the world cannot give to those who live with our Lord. I hope that you will be the ones who live with the owner of this kind of peace.
