Title: Precious Tears Youngjin Church Dawn

Main text: Genesis 45:1-28 49.HWP

In the past, Joseph had some luck with restraining his emotions and withdrawing from his brothers in order to prevent his questioning from being revealed (42:24; 43:30). But this time, he couldn't contain his overflowing emotions, so he cried out. Sometimes genuine emotions are fully expressed by breaking down the human ability to restrain.

1. It was because of Judah's earnest appeal and repentance. Joseph's inability to contain his emotions is the reason why Judah's earnest

It is because he was disturbed by appeal and repentance (44:18-34). No matter how strict and stubborn the heart is, it becomes infinitely softer in front of those who repent and appeal earnestly. Do we not think of God as a strict and fearful being without earnestness or repentance?

2. Those tears were tears of God's grace. Joseph's tears were not the only tears that he shed because he could not control his affection. Joseph, who was watching the friendship between his brothers again and filial piety towards his parents, was moved by God's great grace and love and burst into tears. This crying led to forgiveness and love for the brothers again, and at the same time, it was revealed as a mother who realized and gave thanks to God's providence. Do we have tears of emotion that well up whenever we think of God's love and grace?

3. The most precious tears. In this world, there are tears of pain, tears of sorrow, tears of sadness, and tears of love. Among them, hot tears that are shed in gratitude for God's grace are the most precious tears. When you need to cry, you need wisdom to cry. Because the time without it will come soon.

tolerance of saints

We learn a profound lesson about the tolerance of the saints through the forgiveness Joseph extended to his brothers.

1. Fearful Brothers (3) When Joseph's brothers found out that the Egyptian ruler they were facing was Joseph, they were terrified and amazed. They remembered the previous day's sin against Joseph (37:28). There is no real peace for the wicked. Because the fear and remorse of retribution for his sins continue to torment his heart. Moreover, the fear and surprise of Joseph's brothers in a situation in which the premortal life has completely changed is beyond comprehension.

2. Joseph of generosity (4,5). But Joseph was tolerant of his brothers who remembered their sins and did not know what to do. It shows that he is Joseph's younger brother. This would be impossible without faith. How can we forgive those who cause us pain and harm like this?

3. Joseph acknowledges the providence of God (6-8). Joseph was able to be tolerant of his brothers because of his belief that he acknowledged that all things were God's providence. He used the word 'God' four times (5, 7, 8) when telling the story of his being sold into Egypt. This is evidence that he is convinced of the sovereign providence of God. Do we acknowledge God's providence in all things?
