Joshua 5:1-9
This morning I will take time to explain to you about circumcision. This is to be received by any descendant of Abraham. It is a ritual in which the foreskin of a man's genitals is slightly amputated. Blood is supposed to flow during the ritual. Let's think about what the hell does this mean! Let's read verses 2-3 of this text together. God says all men in Israel must be circumcised now. It is said that the ritual of cutting off each person's epidermis by making a knife out of flint is to be performed now. Everyone, the mountain that did this was called Circumcision, and it would be an interesting sight if we could see the scene. All the grown men line up. There are about 600,000 soldiers alone. Think about how many days it took for 600,000 people to stand in line to be circumcised, and then to the next person to enter.
Abraham waited 10 years, but he did not give him a son. So, shouldn't it be only in Abraham's body that Abraham and Sarah wrung out their wisdom in their own way?" Sarah says. I will give you my maid, so give birth to a son in Hagar's body. It seems that I am not able to give birth to a child, so you can give birth to a son by your own power, right? However, God was not pleased when Abraham had such a thought and did the work of having a son by his own power. God did not appear to Abraham until after Ishmael was born and he was 13 years old. But the problem is after Ishmael is born. Ishmael's birth mother, Hagar, ignores and looks down on Sarah, her master, because of how serious discord broke out in Abraham's family.
