Title: Priest's Blessing
Bible: Numbers 6:22-27
2009.8.9. day
Last week, I heard the example of Abraham speaking that God promised to bless and bless us and to multiply and multiply us.
leave and go give it And wait. It is a clear promise that if we obey this well, God will bless us like Abraham. Hallelujah!
How have you been doing over the past week? Then God will surely bless you. Hallelujah!
I've been thinking about it in my morning prayer for a week If all the saints leave the secular city and go to the Promised Land, give and wait for what is most precious to them, God will surely bless them when the time comes.
But all the saints should live like that, but what will happen to those who do not? I felt sorry for that. So, thinking about it, I came to discover that there are blessings that individuals can receive and that the community can receive blessings together.
Today's text speaks of the community's blessings rather than the individual's. That is, the blessing that the nation of Israel will receive.
If we apply these words to today, it is a blessing that all members of our church will receive. It is a blessing that the church community will receive together. Therefore, I pray that you will listen to today's Word carefully and that our church may receive blessings and enjoy it together.
1. Who gives blessings?
Verse 27: “So they shall bless the children of Israel in my name, and I will bless them.”
character! If you look through this verse, who is the one who gives you blessings? --“I”--This is God.
Yes. It is God who will bless us. God is in control of human life and death. We must know clearly that it is God who created me, who will take me, and who will make me live happily or unhappily on this earth.
Monk Seonghwa, who had been immersed in Buddhism for a long time, realized that God gives real blessings and converted to Christianity. And we are working hard to teach the truth of Christianity to many Buddhists.
“The Lord remembers us and blesses us; he will bless the house of Israel and the house of Aaron, and he will bless those who fear the Lord, high and low.” Please do not think to receive.
2. Through whom does God send blessings?
Verse 27 “They shall bless the children of Israel in my name...” Who are they talking about here? Aaron and his sons mentioned in verse 22. What are their positions? It's the priests. That's right. Through whom does God send blessings from God? He sends them down through the priests. So, in the Old Testament, it was impossible to approach God without going through a priest. All the people came to the priest and offered sacrifices on their behalf and blessed them on behalf of God. Then God bestowed that blessing upon the children of Israel.
When this comes into the New Testament, that priest is Jesus. The priest in the Old Testament is a shadow of Jesus. Jesus Himself has become our high priest and is praying for all our blessings.
character! Now let's return to the community of the church. This is the age of the church. Jesus ushered in the church age. The head of the church is Jesus, and Jesus is the head and body of the church at the same time. The church that Jesus had established was entrusted to whom. Today, I have entrusted the servants of the Lord.
Foreigners, even if it is the last time, come to receive a blessing if they are unable to worship.
You will see the blessings of God flowing down through the pastors' benediction. Therefore, dear saints! If you go out before the end of the benediction, you will lose the most important opportunity to receive the last blessing. You have to be careful.
3. Then, let's see what kind of blessings are contained in the benediction.
1) It is a blessing to protect you.
Verse 23 “The Lord bless you and keep you.”
God will always bless you by protecting the community of God. The priest asks for that blessing.
I also bless you for protecting the church. Furthermore, I bless you for protecting your blessings and your future. Hallelujah!
At the height of the Civil War, President Lincoln invited pastors from all over the country to the White House. And I asked for prayer. And I asked for a final benediction. God heard the benediction and protected the nation of America, and the victory of the Union Army led to the liberation of the slaves.
“Be obedient to those who lead you and be submissive, for they watch for your souls as they are those who will settle. Let them do this with joy, and do not let them do it with sorrow, otherwise it is of no benefit to you.”
We cannot live in this harsh world unless God protects us. I believe that the God who protected Abraham, protected Jacob, and protected David, will surely protect you. He said that the God who protects us neither slumbers nor sleeps.
He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.”
When the servants of the Lord do this blessing, I believe that God will surely give such blessings and will guard and guide you along the way.
2) It is the blessing of giving grace.
Verse 25: “May the LORD make his face shine upon you and show you favor.”
He always wants to show the face of God toward our church and give him a splendid grace. He wants that blessing to come down through your servants, so it comes down through a benediction.
God is always pointing His face here. Indeed, the face represents a person's whole personality, and to “brighten his face” means to turn his whole heart toward him without any selfishness. In other words, He wants to come to the people and give them grace without any selfishness.
Grace refers to the one-sided favor and love given from God to man. Yet, what is the reason for not receiving grace? Because they do not believe in the blessings of the servants of the Lord.
Dear saints, I pray that you will believe and receive the blessings of your servants as they are.
3) It is a blessing that gives you peace.
Verse 26: “May the LORD turn his face upon you, and give you peace.”
Peace has the meaning of “perfect” or “complete”. Therefore, the peace that God gives means the state in which the barriers between God and humans are removed and a perfect relationship is established.
Such perfection exists only in God, and He wants to give His people the peace that guards our hearts and minds. However, this peace does not only mean a state of being free from problems, but it is also a peace that allows you to rejoice in the midst of the storms of life. For modern people, the blessing of peace has disappeared. Uncertainty about the future and many worries are weighing down on the soul. Nothing can be certain and nothing can be reassured. In times like these, I believe that God will fill your hearts with the blessings of peace.
The first thing Jesus said after his resurrection was peace be with you. As you said, I believe that he will bless us today as well, saying, May the same blessing of peace be upon us.
conclusion
It is God who will bless you. When you pray for that blessing through the Lord's group, God will grant it as it is.
I sincerely bless you with the blessing of protecting our future, the blessing of giving grace, and the blessing of peace.
