◈ Proposition: The office of a priest must be one who has been called by God.
◈ Purpose: To know the duties and qualifications of a priest and to fulfill the mission as a gospel priest
1. The work of the priest
A. Priesthood in the Old Testament
1. offering sacrifices
- Sacrifice - means offering offerings (respect) to God, fellowshipping with God, and atonement for sins
2. Management of Holy Relics - Administering the sacrifices and scriptures of the temple and the people
3. Blessing - Blessing the people (Numbers 6:22-27)
B. The Ministry of the Gospel Priests of the New Testament
1. As a pastor
- Leading the worship service, bringing the saints to fellowship with God, and offering sin offerings - Evangelism.
2. As a saint - As a spiritual priest, we have fellowship with the Lord through prayer and the Word, preach the gospel (atonement), and dedicate ourselves to God.
3. Tolerating people, nurturing them with the word, and praying for the saints.
C. As priests of the gospel of the New Testament, are we carrying out the spiritual work well?
1. Are you doing well in witnessing the gospel, leading souls to Christ, fellowshipping with the Lord, and praying?
2. Qualifications of a priest
A. A person with a human body
1. Priesthood cannot be done by divine beings such as angels, but only among humans.
2. Jesus Christ is God and perfect man.
3. Evangelism angels cannot do it, only those who have been saved can do it.
B. One who can tolerate people
1. Because the priest was weak, he offered sacrifices for himself first.
2. A gospel priest who preaches the gospel must first be born again.
3. The Lord has a body and is able to tolerate us as human beings.
4. Those who preach the gospel must also have the gift of acceptance.
C. The Called
1. In the Old Testament, only the Levites, descendants of Aaron, could serve as priests.
2. Only those who are chosen by God can do the work of the Lord (New Testament).
3. It speaks of a gift from God.
4. A spiritual priest can only be a saved saint.
◈ Conclusion: The office of a priest was a noble office given by God. A born-again believer is one who is called to serve as a spiritual priest to serve God. Let's become faithful and devoted saints to the precious privileges and positions that have been given to us.
