Title: Priestly Blessing/Num 6:22-27
Content Priest Blessing/Numbers 6:22-27
People are cleverly trying to hide their greed. I try to express that desire in another way. That's why they try to pretend that their greed is very justified. For example, we try to beautify the desire to possess a man or a woman with the word love. not only that
Even within the church, they cleverly hide their greed in the name of God's work and try to justify their greed. It is said that the church needs to be greatly revitalized. But what is clear is that you should carefully consider whether it is because of God or because of yourself that you are trying to revive the church. Or maybe it's because of the conviction that the church should be maintained. Everything was hidden in this single word, “For God.” One of the essential requirements for such church revival is this blessing. One tool people can gather and welcome people with is a blessing. The people always yearn for this blessing. There are no words that make my heart flutter like this. Especially in a recession like these days, this horse enjoys even more popularity. With this saying, people are supposed to give up many things to have blessings. aiming for this. The reason why I am saying this is because the text is about blessings.
But today's text gives the feeling that there is no connection. This is because, while continuing to talk about the Nazarite, the word about the world's blessings suddenly comes out. Then it cannot be said that the priest's blessing will be given to us unconditionally and that all believers will be blessed. Clearly there is a relationship with the Nazarite, which we should find here. What kind of person was a Nazarite? A Nazarite is one who does not live for himself, but sets himself apart for submission to the will of God. In other words, he said that he is a person who is more interested in how to live in obedience to God's will rather than living in a more comfortable and comfortable life. It is said that blessings are given to those who have the appearance of such a Nazarite. However, the text does not say to bless the Nazarites, but to the people of Israel. This means that Israel is to live as a Nazarite. In other words, it is the image of God's people who must live with the spirit of a Nazarite, and God gives blessings to those who live such a life.
Then we have to be interested in what kind of blessing is here. Verse 27 says, “Thus they shall bless the children of Israel in my name. The priest does not bless at will. Bless you in the name of Jehovah. This means that the name of the LORD is placed on the children of Israel. These are not simple words. In Exodus 20:24, it is said that I will come to bless the place of remembrance. However, the place where Jehovah's name is commemorated here is where the sacrifice is located. That is, the place where the holy sacrifice is placed is in remembrance of the name of Jehovah, and God will descend upon it to bless it. In the end, where does Jehovah's blessing come from? It is to come down where there is a sacrifice that shows Jehovah. That is, to put the name of Jehovah and to commemorate the name of Jehovah mean the same thing. Then who was the perfect sacrifice for God? That is Jesus. So, where did the blessing come from? That's what Jesus did. So where is the blessing now? It is with Jesus.
