Title: Prince of Peace
Bible: Isaiah 9:6-7
In 2008, an American Air Force plane crashed in a residential area near San Diego, USA.
An elderly woman who visited the house of her two young children and her mother and daughter after attacking a peaceful family died on the spot. What drew our attention to this news was that the family that suffered the accident was a Korean family. At that time, the head of the family was at work and escaped the accident, but he would not have been able to bear the sudden sadness. What caused this incident to arouse great interest in American society is the 'great forgiveness' of the father who was left alone. Swallowing unbearable tears, he said he would not blame the fighter pilot and forgive him, and pray that he would not suffer.
The purpose of the Lord coming to this earth is to give us peace.
(Luke 2:14) “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace and good will toward men.”
How is true peace given this Christmas?
1, He destroys iniquity and gives peace between God and me.
(Isa 59:2) “But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from hearing you.”
(John 3:20) “Everyone who does evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds be exposed.”
1) Example of Tetelestai
When our sins were paid for on the cross, Jesus said it is finished. In the original text of the Bible, this word was paid in full in the commercial term 'Tetelesta'. It means that the debt has been paid off.
Jesus paid for all our sins in our place. Because Jesus paid the full price for our sins in this way, we are able to receive eternal life in heaven as a gift.
2) When Jesus came to this earth, He came as King.
A king is a person with absolute power.
Jesus, the King, forgives our sins with absolute power.
3) The president of a large company committed suicide.
The reason is that the president has criticized him and fatally hurt his pride.
How much less is he going to survive if he looks wrong to the king
But if the king forgives and covers them, no one has anything to say.
Because the king is absolute.
4) The absolute King of kings has forgiven our sins.
That is why he brought peace with God.
(2 Corinthians 5:18) “All things are of God, who has reconciled us to himself through Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation.”
2, He gives us peace so that we can live happily in the midst of difficulties in this world
One day, the three of them were playing together, including a killifish, a dragonfly, and an ant.
said the medaka. “Guys, I’m good at swimming, but maybe the river isn’t enough for me to swim?”
Hearing this, the other dragonflies and ants responded.
“Son, there is always enough water in the river for you to swim!”
Then the dragonfly said.
“Guys, I think the sky is too narrow for me to fly”
The other two shouted together as if in awe.
“Son, the sky is wide enough for you to fly!”
The ant also said this about his worries.
“Actually, I’m worried too. I live by building a house out of clay, but I don’t think there’s enough soil for me to build a house.”
“Son, there is enough soil on the ground for you to build and live!”
(Actually, we are foolish and worry about unnecessary things.)
Anxieties and worries take away peace in our hearts.
(Philippians 4:6) “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
Worrying makes nothing come to fruition (Matthew 13 - in the parable of the sower)
(John 14:27) “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
3, He gives peace in the heart of loving others.
A verse in a poem by Moon Jeong-hee is as follows:
'One person left / Seoul is empty' Love is like this.
Seoul, where only one person has left, but being able to transform into a city like a wilderness where no one is left is a deep love. Love is the force that makes a person feel bigger than a huge city.
But it cannot be said that human love is very reliable.
I thought it was a deep love, but it fell apart in an instant,
It is because it is easy to love a reed that is too soft.
This dialogue appears in the drama 'Goodbye Solo'.
Soo-hee tells Min-ho.
Minho, I don't really believe in love.
My mom and dad said that they ran away and got married because they were against the adults. But I have only memories of the two of you fighting.
When I was young, I told my mom, 'Why do you hate my dad so much,' so I can't make money... I knew then.
Oh yeah… (Human) love is fragile. It's swayed by money, and it's annoying if you don't do it well.
Human love may seem great, but it may not be a big deal. Love can become powerless in the face of money, and love can become ice cold with one or two mistakes. It may be a love weaker than money, a love weaker than one or two feelings.
But Minho's answer is even more shocking.
It's not that love is weak, it's that the human heart is weak! Isn't that an honest confession?
The person you love is weaker than love.
Human existence itself is more fragile than the feeling of love.
During the French War, a soldier who was shot in the right arm was operated on at a military hospital, and his arm was eventually amputated. So just before the operation, the surgeon said, unfortunately, that your arm is now lost. It is said that the enlisted man then said, "It was not lost, but this arm was dedicated to my country."
The Bible says, "By this we know love, because he laid down his life for us, and we also ought to lay down our lives for our brothers" (1 John 3:16).

I believe that the true peace that the Lord has given to those who truly love will abound.
