Contents Progress of Faith/Hebrews 10:32-39

 

 

 

Proposition: Christians must keep moving forward in faith.

Purpose: For the growth of faith

Introduction: Man was created to only go forward. The saved Christian's faith must keep moving forward. What is necessary for the continual advancement of faith?

 

1. Recall the previous day's faith (verses 32-34).

A. Recall that you will receive light (v. 32).

1. Recall that you experienced the thrill of salvation through the gospel.

2. Recall that you were filled with the Holy Spirit.

3. Recall experiences of God's power.

B. Recall your victory over persecution and tribulation.

1. Recall the great battle of hardship, persecution, and tribulation.

2. Recall the joyous triumphs during tribulation.

3. Recall how you looked after your servants in tribulation.

C. What are some of the most important things to remember in our religious life?

1. The emotions of salvation, the filling of the Holy Spirit, answers to prayers, the things that received grace

 

2. Do not lose your courage (verse 35).

A. Boldness (ten Palesian) refers to strong conviction.

1. When you have confidence, you become bold. 2. The power of God is revealed to the bold.

3. There is a reward when you have boldness, that is, certainty.

B. What confidence should we have?

1. Have the assurance of salvation. 2. Have confidence in God's walk (guidance, protection).

3. Be confident of victory.

C. Are we confident?

1. Have confidence through prayer and the Word. 2. Have confidence through repentance and confession.

 

3. I encourage you to be patient (verses 36-37).

A. Patience is required for the advancement of faith.

1. Faith cannot grow without patience.

2. Only those who persevere will reap the fruits.

B. It takes patience to do the will of God.

1. He who does not persevere cannot do the will of God. 2. Patience can fulfill promises.

C. Are we patient?

1. Are you patient when your prayers are delayed? 2. Are you persevering in times of trial?

3. The one who is to come after a while is coming.

 

4. Encourage them to move forward (verses 38-39). Regression of faith?

A. It is not pleasing to God.

1. The righteous will live by faith. 2. People of faith are people who keep moving forward.

3. God is pleased with the continued growth of faith.

B. Fall into the chokeryun.

1. Chimryun (Aporeian) refers to a deep swamp or bog. 2. If you do not advance, you will fall into a bog.

3. Regression of faith is a sin.

C. Is our faith moving forward?

 

Conclusion: We must move forward. If you retreat backwards, there is only death in the end. A faith that does not grow is either a problematic faith or a diseased faith. Normal faith must continue to grow. So let's become noble saints that God is pleased with.
