Title - Promise of a Blessed Future
Bible - Zechariah 8:12
Today's text is a prophecy about the renewal and fulfillment of the promise of grace, and it is a record of the restoration of Jerusalem and the promise that there will be a blessed future for the remnant of the people.
In spite of God's continued counsel through the prophets, Judah did not abandon idols and continued to sin. God took Babylon and defeated them, and made thousands of strong and well-to-do men from the royal family to be taken captive.
The remnant of the people were poor and poor people.
But God comforted these useless remnants and gave them the grace to participate in the glorious future.
God, who called us foolish and useless in the world and made us workers in the kingdom of God, is teaching us that he is also the one who gives us unparalleled blessings in the future.
Yehwa-Money in a Frame
A traveling pastor visited the home of a poor couple in a remote mountainous area.
He asked, puzzled when he saw a five-hundred-dollar bill hanging there, framed and hanging on the wall.
"Where did that come from?"
To that, the poor husband answered.
“A few years ago, a sick man stayed at our house.
We took great care of him and cared for him until he was healthy.
When he left, he gave me that little painting.
It was a pretty gift.
We keep the pictures, remembering the good times we had with that stranger."
They were amazed when the pastor told the old couple the value of the money.
They had something valuable, but did not know its value and used it at all.
Those who refuse the wonderful salvation, protection, and comfort promised by the gospel are like this poor couple.
They are the ones who have failed to cash in on the precious promises that God constantly replenishes in the warehouse.
First, God told them that there would be a peaceful harvest.
This implicitly indicates the change of circumstances in verse 10, which is the word before the text, which says, “It was not safe to enter and exit.”
The Jews, who were always suffering from wars, droughts, and famines, could not get a good harvest and had to grab their hungry stomachs in the wanderings of nomadic life. that you will get.
The land becomes fertile soil with sufficient rain to produce produce, and these agricultural products were important natural conditions that provided a basic livelihood for the nomads.
It is said that the remnant of the people will enjoy this abundant production.
The remnant of the people were those who were despised and ridiculed by the few who did not go into captivity and survived without much hope in the world.
To them, “a bountiful produce has returned” is shown as a model for allowing foolish and powerless people to become Christians, to preach the gospel in the last days, and to grant glorious blessings on the day of Christ.
Yehwa - the diligent person
A young man was digging hard.
An old man passing by asked the man.
"Young man, what are you doing here?"
"Yes, we are digging a well."
The young man answered while wiping away his sweat.
"This place is far from the river and there is no water, so why not dig somewhere else instead of in vain?" ' advised the old man.
“I am a diligent person. Water will be in the ground, so if you dig hard anywhere, you will definitely get water.”
The old man left the place without saying anything more.
And the young man eventually left without finding water.
Christ gave himself for us. It is that we may be redeemed and cleansed from all iniquity, that we may become your people zealous for good works. (Titus 2:14)
There are many people around us who are diligent and passionate about everything.
However, if you are zealous for an evil deed, it becomes worse than not having zeal.
For example, walking in the opposite direction from your home and wishing you could get home.
What we should be zealous for is written in detail in the Bible.
Sharing the word of God, helping neighbors, evangelism, and loving each other are just such things.
Do the will of God with zeal.
Christians are the remnants of the last days, and those who will possess the promised blessings in the next life.
Meanwhile, the remnant of Judah at that time lived in great fear.
For he had witnessed fierce adversaries capturing and slaughtering their neighbors.
I thought that God's salvation was over, and I lived with regret and anxiety. We were living day by day in the anxiety of not knowing when such a misfortune would come upon us who lost our country again.
But God promises them blessings and tells them not to be afraid.
And he told me to keep my hands strong.
It means to strengthen the heart, and it also means to show outward preparation of the heart.
When we believe in God and act boldly and fearlessly, even Satan will retreat.
Satan's offensive can be slowed down, and it can be defeated.
David was able to defeat Goliath, who insulted God, and as a result of boldly approaching him by trusting in God, he was able to defeat him and win the war against the Philistines.
God is responsible for the results of bold faith.
