Title: Prophet from Galilee (John 7:32)
Title: Prophet from Galilee / John 7:32-
1. Misunderstanding of Religious Leaders
1) When the Jewish leaders, the chief priests and Pharisees, heard murmurings about Jesus, their first reaction was to capture them. Many powerful people often use their power to isolate people when they point out their faults.
2) If you look at many events in the Bible, you can see these aspects.
① Micaiah the prophet was defeated when Jehoshaphat and King Ahab allied together to go to war.
He was imprisoned for prophesying.
2 Chronicles 18:25 The king of Israel said, Take Micaiah and give it to Amon the wealthy and to Joash the prince.
drag it back
2 Chronicles 18:26 Say, Say, The king says, Put this man in prison, and feed him with the bread of suffering and water of suffering until I return in peace.
② When Jeremiah told King Zedekiah that he would surrender to Babylon, he threw him into a dry pit.
Jeremiah 38:6 When they took Jeremiah and threw him into the pit of Malkiiah the king's son in the court of the guard, they ran Jeremiah down with a cord, and there was no water in the pit.
Because it was only mud, Jeremiah fell into the mud.
③ Jesus' disciples also suffered in the same way.
When the apostles performed marvelous powers
Acts 5:15 Even carrying the sick and going out into the streets to lay them on beds and mattresses, hoping that as Peter passed by, who might even cover the shadows?
Acts 5:16 A great number of people from the outskirts of Jerusalem also gathered together, bringing the sick and those suffering from unclean spirits, and they were all healed.
The high priests and Sadducees put them in prison.
Acts 5:17 The high priest and all who were with him, that is, the faction of the Sadducees, arose, full of envy in their hearts.
Acts 5:18 They captured the apostles and put them in prison.
④ Today’s personal detention system was established in England only in 1679, when the ordinance of habeas corpus was adopted, which was enacted to prevent detention for no reason or long-term detention. There is a Tao (拘束適否審査制度).
3) However, what you need to know is that just because you imprison people, you cannot hide the truth.
2. Jesus' answer
1) I will stay with you a little longer
When Jesus said that there would be a little more, it is not simply that now is not my time, but that he will bear the cross on the Passover after six more months. This verse has a deeper meaning.
① Be patient and wait
The Lord, in a meek voice, awaits their repentance and return.
John 13:1 Knowing that the time had come for Jesus to leave the world and return to his Father before the Passover, he loved his own who were in the world, and loved them to the end.
As to why God delays judgment, the Bible says:
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow in his promise, as some consider slowness, but is patient with you, not wishing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance.
② A word of warning: There is no time outside for a while.
Isaiah 55:6 Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near.
2 Corinthians 6:2 ...behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
Hebrews 3:15 For it is said, Today, when you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts, as when wrath is stirred.
2) I will return to the one who sent me.
This is John's characteristic term for returning to God the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
By expressing it as a , strong emphasis is placed on the resurrection of the Lord.
That is, the Lord is speaking of Himself coming from God and going back to God.
3) You will look for me, but you will not find me.
Through the text, Jesus is rebuking their sins by reminding them of the Old Testament words that He spoke to sinful Israel.
Proverbs 1:24 When I call, you do not want to hear me; when I stretch out my hand, no one who looks
there was no
Proverbs 1:25 Rather, they despised all my teaching, and received no reproof from me.
Proverbs 1:27 Your fear will come like a storm, and your calamity will come like a storm.
Proverbs 1:28 Then you will call on me, and I will not answer.
You will seek me diligently, but you will not find me.
Isaiah 1:15 I cover my eyes when you stretch out your hands, and though you pray much,
I will not listen, for your hands are full of blood.
Mic 3:4 Then they will cry out to the LORD, but he will not answer them, and he will hide his face from them according to the wickedness of their deeds.
*There is a truth that you sinners cannot know
2:14 The natural do not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolish
I can see it, and I do not understand it; for these things can only be discerned spiritually.
4) He said that he would not come to where I am.
This signifies the Lord's resurrection and ascension to heaven.
In other words, the heaven where the Lord is is not a place that anyone can go to, only those who believe and confess Jesus Christ can go.
John 14:6 Jesus said to them, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no one comes to the Father except through me.
**** conclusion ****
1. The truth cannot be hidden.
2. Let's meet the Lord when we can receive grace, when we can meet the Lord.
