Title: Providential Action
Contents Bible Text: Matthew 5:32-45 Title: Providential Action
Matthew 5:32-45.
32 I say to you, if anyone divorces his wife without the cause of fornication,
that she makes her commit adultery, and whoever gives to a woman who is rejected
For he who marries also commits adultery. 33 And do not swear in vain, as it was said to the old man.
You have heard that it was said to the Lord that you must keep your oath. 34 But I say to you, you must not swear at all.
Neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God; 35 nor by earth, for it is God's footstool.
Neither Jerusalem nor Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great king 36 and not with your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black 37 “But you are right, yes, no, no.
What passes from this comes from evil." 38 "You have heard that it was said, "An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth." 39 I tell you, do not resist the evil one.
If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn the left side also 40 and let the one who accuses you to take the undergarment, even the cloak, 41 and if anyone compels you to go a long way, walk with him two miles, 42 Give to others, and do not refuse from those who want to borrow from you. 43 You have heard that it was said, "Love your neighbor and hate your enemies." 44 I tell you, I tell you, love your enemies.
Pray for those who persecute you. 45 When you do this, you will become sons of your Father who is in heaven.
For God makes his sun shine on the wicked and on the good,
For he sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you have?
Is not even a tax collector like this? 47 And if you greet only your brothers, what do you do more than others?
Is it not so also of the Gentiles? 48 Therefore be ye perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.
Proverbs 14:17-35.
17 He who is quick to anger does foolishness,
Those who plot evil schemes are hated. 18 A fool who inherits his foolishness
The prudent person is crowned with knowledge. 19 The wicked bow before the good, and the unrighteous at the gate of the righteous. 20 The poor is hated by his neighbors, but the rich have many friends. 21 He who despises his neighbor is a sinner.
Blessed is he who has compassion on the poor. 22 Is he not wrong with those who plan evil?
For those who seek good will find kindness and truth. 23 In all toil there is profit, but the word of the lips brings nothing. 24 The riches of the wise are his crown.
A fool's possessions are only foolishness. 25 A true witness saves lives, but a spoofer deceives. 26 Those who fear the Lord have strong confidence.
For their children shall have a refuge. 27 The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, and brings them out of the snares of death. 28 Many people are the glory of a king, and few people are the fall of the sovereign. 29 He who is slow to anger has great understanding,
A hasty heart shows foolishness. 30 A calm heart gives life to the flesh, but envy rots the bones. 31 A man who oppresses the poor despises his Maker.
He who has compassion on the needy honors the Lord. 32 The wicked falls in his affliction,
The righteous have hope even in his death. 33 Wisdom dwells in the heart of the understanding.
What is in the heart of fools is revealed. 34 Justice glorifies the kingdom, but sin disgraces the people. 35 A wise servant finds favor with the king.
Luke 6:38 A servant who insults him suffers his wrath.
38 Give, and it will be given to you;
Shake it to overflowing, and I will give it to you.
With the measure that you measure, it will be measured to you again.
