Introduction
Everyone prays to God. But you will think about why David's prayer is cited as an example, but there is no need to think too much about it. It is only because his prayer came from the text. So let's see what he saved.
1. The deeds of the wicked were reported (verses 3-4).
“They have sharpened tongues like snakes, and under their lips they hold the venom of a viper. Lord, protect me from the wicked and protect me from the tyrant. They try to push me down.”
It is a prayer to denounce the actions of the wicked who harbor poison to harm people like vipers. The sin of the wicked who harms the life of the body is great, but the sin that tries to harm the life of the spiritual becomes a bigger sin. This is a prayer to prevent us from falling into the trap of the wicked (5).
2. He asked to be saved from the wicked (verse 1).
“Lord, deliver me from the wicked, and protect me from the tyrant.”
“But I said to the Lord, 'You are my God. “Lord, give ear to my pleas,” he said. O Lord God, who is the strength of my salvation, in the days of war you have put a helmet on my head to protect me” (verses 6-7).
We must pray without ceasing so that we do not fall into the schemes of the wicked (Matthew 26:41). It is because such kind cannot go out except through prayer (Mark 9:29).
3. The wicked asked to fail (verse 8).
“Lord, do not fulfill the desires of the wicked, lest they be puffed up, and their plans do not succeed.”
conclusion
David prayed that, rather than praying for something personal, he told the Lord the cruelty of the wicked, prayed for deliverance from the trap of such wicked people, and prayed that the wishes of the wicked would not come true. That is, they prayed for public things rather than private ones.
