Psalm 14 Fools
People in the world say that a person who can't make money is a fool, a person who loses in a fight is a fool, a person who can't make a living is a fool, and a person who does not succeed in the world is a fool.
However, the Bible says that those who think unrighteously are fools (Jeremiah 17:ll; Luke I2:20), and those who do not prepare for the future are fools (Luke 12:20; Matthew 25:2). A person who builds a house is called a fool (Matthew 7:26), and a person who is impatient (Proverbs 14:29) or shows anger (Proverbs 29:11) is called a fool. Psalm 14 describes three characteristics of a foolish person.
1. They say there is no God.
"The fool says in his heart, There is no God" (1). The first characteristic of a fool is to deny God. They claim that there is no God (Psalm 10:4). A Russian astronaut came back from a space flight and said:
"I looked closely at the universe, but God did not exist." North Korea's Juche ideology also denies the existence of God. Confucianism, of course, does not believe in God or the existence of an afterlife. Confucius said, "If you do not know all the problems of this world, how can you know about God or the future life?"
Those who try to know God through science, politics, ethics, and morals cannot know God. You will deny God. Because God is a spiritual God. Only those with spiritual eyes can know God. As the scientific pioneer Bacon said, "There is order and law in this universe, so there must be a master of the universe."
A foolish man neither seeks God nor calls on God because he denies Him (2, 4). God looked down from heaven to see if there were any who had understanding and were seeking God, and there was no one who sought Him. All life has become a fool.
2. Corrupt and detestable, they do not do good.
“They are corrupt and their deeds are detestable, and there is no one who does good” (1). The second characteristic of a fool is a depravity of ethics. Those who do not know God will eventually fall from this world. The root cause of the fall of man is atheistic ideas. The fool described the fall here like this:
“They are corrupt and their deeds are detestable, they are unclean, and there is no one who does good, who does iniquity and eats my people” (1-4) Those who cannot see God cannot see even humans. Ultimately, he commits an abominable sin against humanity. It even devours people. God looked down from heaven to see if there were any who had understanding and did good, and there was none. All life has become a fool.
Even in the church today, there are some people who do not believe in the existence and presence of God with their hearts. And there are those who commit shameful unethical sins. All are stupid people.
3. You tremble in fear.
“There they feared and feared” (5). The third characteristic of a fool is to tremble with fear. In the heart of an atheist there is fear instead of peace, and fear instead of peace in the heart of those who do all kinds of evil. Sometimes a fool is so foolish that he does not know how to fear.
But the day must come when they will fear and fear again. The word “there” here has the temporal meaning of “at that time”, which refers to the time when God will judge the righteous and judge the wicked. Foolish people tremble with fear in the hour of judgment.
The Bible says that those who fear God are wise, and those who believe in God are righteous. In the end, God saves the wise and the righteous from shame and persecution and gives them days of joy and joy.
