Today's reading is a prophetic description of holy worship. Moses, Aaron, and Samuel appearing here are true worshipers as representatives of the redeemed people of God. They listened carefully to the words of God and put them into practice. Their prayers were answered by God. They exalt God and bow down to worship him.
What are the conditions for a true worshiper?
First, hear the word and keep it (verse 7).
True worshipers receive the Word well and put it into practice. Moses heard God speaking from the pillar of cloud. God was speaking from the cloud when the pillar of cloud covered the camp of Israel.
We must receive the Word and let it dwell in us.
“If my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you” (John 15:17).
True worship does not stop at listening to the Word. We must put into practice what God has given us. Jesus said, "If ye love me, keep the commandments" (John 14:15).
(Verse 7, second half) also says, "They kept all the commandments and ordinances they had received from him." It means that they kept what God said at the pillar of cloud. Moses delivered the word he had received from God to the people, and the people said with one voice, “We will do what the Lord has commanded” (Exodus 24:3). True worship is completed in the practice of the commanded word. God speaks and worshipers obey His Word. God gave the ordinances, and the people kept the ordinances. Let's become true worshipers who listen to the Word and keep it! A true worshiper must be blessed.
Second, we pray and receive answers (verse 8).
True worshipers ask in faith and receive answers.
(Verse 6b) "Every time they cried out to the Lord, He answered them."
Worship includes proclamation of the Word and prayer. Proclaiming the Word is the time when God speaks, and prayer is the time when man speaks to God. When worshipers truly pray, God hears their prayers on the throne of grace. God listens to those who pray. Let's pray and receive answers.
Moses, Aaron, and Samuel continued to intercede. They are models of true worshipers and types of the Mediator, Jesus Christ. They prayed and God answered. Let us pray too. Even if we are lacking, God will answer.
Third, praise and worship (verse 9).
True worshipers praise and worship God. The reason we have no choice but to exalt and worship God is because the word He has given is precious and the answers to our prayers are thankful. We must praise God with all our might, who gave us the word of life and heard our prayers.
The hymn should be sung in a loud voice with a joyful heart. How could it not be joyful to hear people who have received grace gather together and glorify God?
(Psalm 22:3) says, "You are holy, O Lord, who dwells in the praises of Israel." God is where there is praise. Hymns should be sung spiritually. Because it is to glorify and praise God. Even though I am in darkness now and I am in the midst of persecution and trials, if I feel the presence of the Lord, I can sing.
Let's receive refreshment by listening to the Word at every worship service. Let us practice the Word and receive blessings. Receive what you ask with the blessed assurance of prayer. If we exalt and worship God, God will exalt us. May we all become true worshipers.
