Title: Purifying Water (Lecture 37)
When listening to an FM broadcast, a person has an evil idea and asks what to do. The counselor says that even if he has an evil thought, he is not evil if he does not put it into action. It's about how to do what is instinctive. This is what those who did not know Jesus thought about humans. You are holding it up as an excuse for how evil you are. It's just instinct. Failing to admit that in itself proves that man is a sinner. David, whom we know well, was a man after God's own heart. He is a man who has only depended on God's promises for a long time and looked only to God in suffering and suffering. But one day he sinned. In one day, his faith was shattered. This is human. So David confesses himself through the psalms. “I was born in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me,” he confessed. This is the human form.
But the Pharisees and scribes did not know this. He thought that if he did religious acts without knowing his true nature, he would become holy. no. Faith is what we discover every day that we are sinners and evil beings every day, no matter what human actions are. That is why believers must live a life of offering sacrifices every day. Because it is an unclean thing. To offer sacrifices every day means to live with the consciousness that I am standing in front of God whenever and wherever I am. It's killing yourself every day. This is the purpose of the believer's life. Then, going back to the text, what we need to think about is that today's text explains what kind of measures to take to avoid the uncleanness of those who touch the body. How does the action lead to action? Bring the red heifer and give it to the priest to burn it, gather the ashes, put it in a designated place, and use it to make water to purify the unclean.
First of all, what we need to discover here is how unclean humans are. If you look closely, the priest who killed the heifer is unclean, and the one who burned the heifer is unclean, and the person who collects the ashes is unclean. Why are these people called unclean? You killed the sacrifice, burned it, and made ashes, so why is it unclean? Whose sin was the sacrifice for? It is a sacrifice for human sin. So? It shows the essence of human beings. It shows how unclean humans are. People think that if you don't do bad things, you're good, and if you do bad things, you're evil. He also protests that it is not a bad thing because it is human nature. But the Bible says that humans are unclean regardless of whether they did something bad or not, or whether they were instinctive or not.
Up to this point, the record of Numbers records that the Israelites are marching to conquer the land of Canaan, but why suddenly the priest's problem and those who touched the body became unclean in today's text. It is whether you are recording such words to make. They tried to enter the land of Canaan from Kadesh-Barnea, but could not. So, God is rearranging the people of Israel again. In other words, they are teaching who will enter the land of Canaan. Whoever enters the land of Canaan is the clean one. In other words, those who know that they are unclean, that is, that they deserve death, can enter the land of Canaan when they are cleansed by God's sacrifice and mercy. What was the reason for not entering the land of Canaan? They said they couldn't enter because there were a lot of strong people like the descendants of Anak. Then, what must they do to enter the land of Canaan? They had to craft weapons and train them to have the power to conquer. But God did not do that.
