Purpose-driven life (5) Seeing from God's perspective
Text: James 4:13-17/ Hear now, you who say, Today or tomorrow, we will go to any city and stay there a year, and trade and buy, and you do not know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a moment and then vanishes. Instead, you would say, If the Lord wills, we will live and do this and that. Therefore, if a person knows how to do good and does not do it, it is sin.
How we define life determines our destiny. You may be building your life based on the wrong image. In order to meet the purpose for which God created you, you need to let go of stereotypes and learn to live life based on the Bible.
1) Our view of life determines our destiny.
① Those who think that life is a party will pursue pleasure first.
② If you think of life as a war or a game, victory is the most important thing.
③ If you are living your life in the wrong way, you need to change the frame of your thinking.
James 4:16 Now ye boast in vain boasting, and all such boasting is evil.
④ We must know the way of life based on the Bible.
2) The Bible says that life on this earth is a test.
Life on this earth is a test. Personality is developed and refined by testing. When we realize that life is a test, we know that nothing in our lives is unimportant.
① Every area of our life is a test, and we are always being tested by God.
○ God tests the measure of faith through problems and conflicts.
○ He tests the measure of hope through the way he uses his possessions.
○ Through relationships with people, he tests the form of love.
② Personality is developed and refined by testing.
③ Because life is a test, there is nothing in our life that is not important.
○ Every day is an important day.
○ Every moment is an opportunity to develop character and practice love.
④ The impact of all trials on us is eternal.
⑤ God wants us to pass every test in life.
⑥ He plans a reward from heaven whenever we pass every test.
(James 1:12) Blessed is he who endures temptation. For after this has been approved, he will receive the crown of life, which the Lord has promised to those who love him."
The wilderness is a place of complete isolation from the world. Therefore, there is the pain of losing everything that I enjoy, like, and want. But it is a place where you can truly establish a relationship with God in God. It is a place where you can discover God and share your love with God. The wilderness is a place of testing. This is where my pride is revealed. You can see what the direction of my life was and what I valued. It made me discover who I was. So it makes me see what I really need while living on this earth. It is a place where the fictional image of me, who lived without faith due to pride and greed, is broken.
Why does God give fiery trials and tribulations to His beloved children? It is a sign that tells you to give up on ‘your old self, prejudice, stubbornness, pride, and stereotypes’ and live in God’s way and grace.
3) The Bible says that life on this earth is entrusted.
Life on this earth is entrusted. Time, energy, intelligence, opportunities, relationships, and resources on this earth are gifts that God has temporarily entrusted to us to care for and manage. This stewardship concept stems from the consciousness that God is the owner of everything on this earth. We own nothing on this earth where we stay for a while, and it is our mission to manage and care for God's possessions, just like Adam did. God watches how we spend our money to test how reliable we are.
① Everything on this earth is a gift that God has given us for a while to care for and manage.
(Psalm 24:1) The earth and its fulness, the world, and all who dwell in it are the Lord's."
② Managing God's possessions is one of the purposes of our lives.
③ Because they belong to God, we must do our best to take care of them.
④ When your life on this earth ends, you will be evaluated.
(Matthew 25:21) His master said, "Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over little things; I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master."
Day 5 / About the purpose of my life
Things to think about: Life is a test and a commission.
Memorable Words: “He who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much; and he who is unrighteous in a very little is also unrighteous in much” (Luke 16:10).
The question that goes to life: What has been a test that God has given you lately? What do you think is the most important task God has entrusted to you? “We see things as we think, not as they are.” - Anais Nin-
An important characteristic of the figure of 21st century people is that they are urban nomads. They're not wandering like they used to, but they live in the city and are nomads. The thoughts of the mind are nomadic. Many people live together, but they are lonely. There is no settling, no stability. The so-called apartment families who live in apartments usually move every two years on average for no reason, but the psychology of nomads is that they can't live without moths. You can't settle in one place. You're not moving into a much better house, and you'll have to move to the next house at least once. Such a mind is the attribute of nomads. So, among the nomads, there are such poor wandering nomads who cannot eat a meal and have to wander around from morning to night just to make a living. There are nomads who live happily on their own. No matter where you are, living with the traveler's personality, the traveler's values, and the traveler's worldview is what modern people look like.
