Title: Purpose of Creation /Genesis 1:27-28
Contents Purpose of Creation / Genesis 1: 27 ~ 28 Daegu Jeil Church
Last week we heard about the blessings that God proclaims. But God also gave such blessings when he created man. While creating man in God's image, God blessed people, which can be seen in three main ways. The first is to fill the earth, the second is to subdue it, and the third is to have dominion over all living things. This can be said to be the purpose for which God created man.
God wants to bless our people. However, this blessing is not simply given as if the sense of hanging high is falling. In order to receive this blessing, He makes our people bear the responsibility. This is what sets it apart from religions that are usually classified as superstitions.
The blessing God gives is first achieved through the fruitfulness and multiplication of man and the filling of the earth. To do this, people must be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth according to God's law. Today, various scientific advances are trying to artificially control this. When these things happen because of human greed that goes against God's laws, it will come as a curse, not a blessing.
God's blessings are given in the conquest of the earth. These words have been misunderstood according to imperialistic colonial policies. Therefore, it brought about a tendency to invade and take away other people's countries and to annihilate other peoples. Clearly, this was a negative part of Western Christianity. Now is the time to get it right. It refers to efforts to cultivate God's land well.
God's blessings are given by governing all living things well. This is not to say that humans have been given the power to control these creatures of nature as we please. They are being asked to live well together. To this end, today's environmental protection movement is a very important task, which we Christians must do well.
Blessings are not just given, but come through a lot of effort. We must once again plant in our minds that it is given in abundance when we live according to the laws of creation that God has given us.
