Title: Purpose of life
Content Title: Purpose of Life
Bible: 1 Corinthians 10:31-33
When we come to Jesus who said, “Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28), we will have life and power. Let's break through the reality with the right zeal for only Jesus. Believers should think about God's wishes. In order to fulfill God's wishes, you must become a mature person who is devoted and loyal. That is the purpose of our lives and the will of God. Just as Article 1 of the Sojourn Questions and Answers is the purpose of life, I hope that all of us will become those who grant God's wishes.
First: Let's live for glory.
“Therefore, whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God” (verse 31). Every action, whether eating or drinking, must ultimately be to the glory of God. We must not lead a life that tarnishes or destroys the glory of God. We must not lead a life of helplessness and irresponsibility that fails to glorify God. We must live this glorious life that pleases us and give all glory to God.
Second: Let's have a life that is beneficial to all.
“Do not be a stumbling block, neither to the Jews nor to the Greeks nor to the church of God” (verse 32). A stumbling block is one who becomes a stumbling block and causes others to fall and injure. We have to try, pray, and check so that we do not become stumbling blocks. According to the story of Jotham in Judges 9, the olive tree, the fig tree, and the vine refuse to be kings, but the unqualified thorns will become kings themselves. Then, we must realize that Abimelech, like a thorn tree, who became king after killing 70 brothers, is what we are, confessing that I was a 'thorn tree' and repenting.
Third: Let's have a life that gives salvation.
“Please, like me, in all things please everyone, not your own, but the benefit of many, that they may be saved” (verse 33). The purpose of living for the good of others is that they believe in Jesus and be saved. For salvation, we have to give up a lot of ourselves. When we sacrifice ourselves, we are moved. To please others is for salvation. To save even one more person. For salvation, we pray, serve, and do our best. It is the will of God and the purpose of our human life to do all that, not out of human need, but for the purpose of saving souls. The gospel must be shown from me to others, not just in words but in deeds.
