Title: Racer of Faith.
All of our lives are like marathoners running long distances.
So, in today's text, Gentiles and Jews (Israel) appear, and they are also described as runners in a running race. But the Gentiles defeated the Jews who ran hard. And I won that race. The stranger didn't even run, he just won the race. Why is this result?
The Bible says it this way. The reason the Jews failed in running was because they ran not by faith, but by works (the law). Said. The Gentiles, on the other hand, ran by “faith.” In Christian doctrine, this is referred to as Lee Shin-deuk's righteousness. That is, we are justified by faith. So it means that we are saved by faith.
Let's assume today that we competed to see who would come faster to the golf course that is far from Dumaguete, with such a beautiful scenery. Departure time was 08:30 in the morning. And a lot of people took part. However, some people run barefoot unconditionally. And we took the bus. So those who just ran barefoot gasped and followed us. I am thirsty. My feet swell and I'm about to die. I wouldn't have even crossed San Jose by now. Everyone will probably give up halfway through.
But what happened to those of us who started at the same time? We have already arrived safely, and we are already worshiping like this. Because, we came in an air-conditioned bus, a nice big bus. So even our little ones came safely. Very good.
Even if we go from Seoul to Busan, if we only ride high-speed trains like KTX these days, we just need to stay together today. Some of them drink coffee and talk while reading the newspaper or trying to sleep. If you just sit still, you will arrive at the port of Busan, the gateway to Korea.
Everyone! The gospel of Christ is just like this. Even today, our God has prepared a “salvation train” and is waiting for anyone to find a defector. So, if you just ride this train, you will arrive safely and safely at your destination (the eternal world). However, those who try to go on their own, or those who try to show off their strength, will eventually fall off a stone root and fail. That “stone” is Jesus Christ.
In Isaiah 8:14, Jesus Christ, the Messiah, will be a stone of stumbling and a rock of stumbling to Israel, and a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. Said. What does this mean?
Jesus came to this earth in the form of a very humble human and as the son of a carpenter. And in the end, he died on the cross in a miserable state.
So they (Israel) thought it was a shame to call Jesus the “Messiah.”
So this has become a “stone of stumbling” for them. So, of course, he was bound to be a loser in the race.
But everyone! He (Jesus Christ) was “God the Son.” He was the Lord of salvation who came to this earth to save mankind. So anyone who just believed in Him could be saved. Everyone! Those who believe in Jesus will never be put to shame (Romans 10:11). 1 Peter 2:4-10.
Let's read together. Amen.
