Title: Raise Us / Psalm 85:1-13
Content * Text: Psalm 85:1-13, Luke 7:11-17, Romans 14:17-18
Psalm 85 is a prayer that the people of Israel pray to God as they look back on the past while they were returning from captivity.
Movinkel said that this psalm is a prayer for the New Year's celebration, and prayed for God's blessings in the new year, who was with him last year as well.
Among the people of Israel, we pray that the Lord will continue to grant salvation to the people who have not returned from Babylon and have suffered various aftereffects and difficulties from the war.
Israel's salvation includes past, present, and future salvation. Based on the salvation experience of the Exodus and the return of captivity, we are living a life of faith that guarantees salvation in the present and future salvation.
Here is a summary of the poet's prayers:
1. He turned away his anger and prayed for the revival of the country.
Raise us again so that your people may rejoice in you (verses 4-6).
① We are praying for all people (us) to revive and revive together (verse 4).
② We are praying for the work of revival to take place through the word of the Lord.
“He will hear the word of the LORD, and he will speak peace to all his people and his saints” (verse 8).
③ As a result of revival, we are praying for your people to rejoice in you (verse 6).
Let's remember that Jesus came back to life by saying, "Get up" to the dead son of the widow of Nain (Luke 7:11-17).
2. We pray that God's glory may rest on our land (verse 9).
I hope that all the people will rejoice and glorify God as God's saving grace is revealed, and that God's glory will always be revealed in Israel.
God is glorified when his people live splendidly according to God's will. When the saints who have experienced the grace of salvation continue to strive for sanctification and live holy lives, the glorious image of God will appear.
3. I prayed that all people would live a life in which mercy, truth, justice, and peace are in harmony (verses 10-11).
“Charity and truth meet together (verse 10), righteousness and peace kiss one another (verse 11), truth springs up from the earth, and righteousness looks down from heaven” (verse 12).
① When love (hesed) and truth (emmet) meet each other, it shows the sincerity of the people who respond to God's mercy. It also means that because of God's mercy and faithfulness, the people will be blessed, and the land will prosper by producing abundant crops.
② It is said that righteousness and peace kiss each other. 'Righteousness' is the people's obedience to God's law, and shalom is given as a reward for their obedience.
When the four attributes of God are in harmony with 'love and truth, righteousness and peace', complete salvation is achieved for God's people, and the land is 'truth springs up from the earth, and justice looks down from heaven' (verse 11). said These words mean that when people on this earth live according to the truth, the grace of salvation is bestowed upon them according to God's just will.
Since God's grace is linked to the lives of His people, if the Israelites keep their covenants based on truth, they will receive God's love abundantly. And if the people of Israel practice honesty and fairness while realizing God's justice, they can enjoy true peace and prosperity. When heaven and earth are in harmony, man and man maintain peace, and man and earth are in harmony, the earth will produce abundantly.
conclusion. Israel is praying for the revival of faith, the revival of national consciousness, and the prosperity of the nation. Above all, I hope that all the people will come together and become strong once again to create a new history. To that end, we pray that we will practice love armed with the ‘truth’ and achieve fairness and peace while creating a clean society through a just life. Thus, Israel is determined to build a beautiful nation of a high standard by maintaining harmony and balance in all aspects economically, religiously, and socially (Romans 14:17-18).
