Title: Reasons for Unbelief/John 41-47

Reasons for not believing the content

Text John 41-47

The reason the Jews did not believe in Jesus was not because there was no evidence.

Evidence was sufficient to show that Jesus was the Christ, the Son of the living God. In particular, the signs that Jesus performed were more than enough to testify. However, when they did not believe and asked for another sign, Jesus said that there was no sign to show you except the sign of Jonah.

Even though Jesus showed the sign of raising the dead, if you do not believe even after seeing it, it will be the same no matter what other signs you show him.

Also, John the Baptist testified of Jesus. ‘Behold, God who takes away the sins of the world

It is the Lamb.’ This is the atonement for the sins of all people through Jesus’ crucifixion.

He testified that Christ was the Messiah. but they believe in Jesus

No.

Also, when Jesus was baptized, God directly testified with His word, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” At the same time, there was evidence that the Holy Spirit descended like a dove and rested on Jesus. Yet they did not believe.

Not only that, but the Bible, the word of God written by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, is also in Jesus.

testifying about it. Nevertheless, the Jews did not believe in Jesus.

No, but such a person would not believe even if there was any other evidence.

Because there is no love for God.

(John 5:42) But the love of God is not in you.

I know

Jesus knew the state of their hearts.

This is probably the fundamental reason why Jews do not believe in Jesus.

They say that they worship God and glorify God, but they do not have a sincere love for God in their hearts.

(Matthew 15:8) This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me (Matthew 15:9) They worship me in vain, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.

(John 14:15) If you love me, you will keep my commandments.

When Jesus, who knows their hearts and minds, rebuked them like this, the Jews' hearts must have been afflicted, but these people, who had no love for God and only had formal and superficial religious practices, could not believe in Jesus.

Their hearts, who loved sin, money, and the world more than their love for God, belonged to darkness, so they could not accept the light of Jesus.

Therefore, Jesus

(John 5:43) I came in my Father's name, and you do not receive him; but if another comes in his own name, you will receive it.

Not Seeking Glory from God

said it was because

(John 5:44) How can you believe in me, since you receive glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from the only God?

Those who want to be glorified in the world and to exalt themselves cannot afford to serve God or think of His glory. Either way, he is trying to be glorified and exalted in the world. The Pharisees liked to be invited, and when invited, they always liked to sit in the highest place, and they liked to be greeted on the street. They loved being treated and honored by the world. These people could not follow Jesus.

People are interested in those who need them and feel love. But no one cares about people because they don't need anyone who is self-satisfied.

Therefore, those who are satisfied with their knowledge, wealth, wealth, or honor find it difficult to come to church and have no place for faith or love.

That is why the Pharisees, who loved the world more than God and preferred the glory of men more than the glory of God, could not believe in Jesus.

A person of true faith prefers the glory of God to the glory of the world.

Because we know that it is only for a short time to enjoy glory in this world and to be praised and glorified by the people of this world.

But these Pharisees were not interested in the glory of God, only

He was only focused on gaining glory. That is why they did not love God and did not believe in Jesus.

It was because they did not believe the writings (words) of Moses.

(John 5:46) If you had believed Moses, you would have believed me again, because he

(John 5:47) But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?

If they believed Moses, or the Pentateuch, as the Word of God, they would have believed in Jesus as well. Because the writings of Moses clearly prophesy about Jesus.

Adam and Eve fell into sin because they ate the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden.

(Genesis 3:14) And the LORD God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this, you are more cursed than all cattle and more than all beasts of the field.

take it, go on a boat, and eat dirt all the days of your life.

(Genesis 3:15) I will make you hostile to the woman, and your descendants to her offspring and enemies; and the offspring of a woman shall bruise you in the head, and you shall bruise her in the heel.

This word is called the original gospel.

Here, the offspring of a woman refers to Jesus, who was born of the Holy Spirit by the Virgin Mary. As prophesied in the Word, Jesus came and died on the cross.

He took on the sins of all people.

3 days after He died on the cross, He broke the power of death and rose again.

By breaking the power of death and rising from the resurrection of victory

This is what God had said would bruise Satan's head.

When God told Abraham to sacrifice Isaac as a burnt offering

God blessed Abraham, who obeyed God's word.

God spoke of the coming of the Messiah through Abraham.

(Genesis 22:18) And through your offspring all the peoples of the world will be blessed, because you have done what I said.

Your seed here refers to Jesus Christ.

So, in Galatians 3:13-14,

(Galatians 3:13) Christ became a curse for us

He hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, as it is written,

"Cursed is everyone who hangs." (Galatians 3:14) For the blessing of Abraham in Christ Jesus may come to the Gentiles, and that we may receive the promise of the Holy Spirit through faith.

He said that he wanted to receive it.

The blessing of Abraham here is the blessing that God promised to Abraham, especially the blessing that He said that all peoples under the heavens would be blessed through the seed of Abraham, that is, Jesus Christ.

Therefore, if the scribes and Pharisees had rightly believed the Bible, then naturally the Old Testament

You must have believed in Jesus who prophesied that He would come in the Bible.

But they did not believe in Jesus.

Moses is a shadow of Christ and a type of Christ.

Just as Moses led the Israelites into Canaan, so Jesus leads us

He will take you to heaven.

Look at how Moses offered sacrifices to God.

They were sacrificed by slaughtering clean animals and sprinkling their blood on the altar.

(Leviticus 17:11) For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I

It was given to you to make atonement for your life, sprinkled on the altar, for life is in the blood, and blood makes atonement.

In the Old Testament, a sacrifice was offered once for the forgiveness of sins.

But this sacrifice was an imperfect one.

This imperfect sacrifice was made by Jesus, who came as the Lamb for us.

By shedding His blood on the cross for our sins before God,

It was an eternal and perfect sacrifice.

In the end, Jesus came and died on the cross in our place as the Lamb.

It is a foreshadowing of the day when all our sins will be forgiven through the shedding of blood.

(John 14:21) He who has my commandments and keeps them is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and reveal myself to him.

If we really love God, we will keep His commandments.

I believe that 66 books of the Old and New Testaments were written about Jesus.

We love God's commandments and keep them.

We believe in Jesus as revealed in the Bible.

We want to be glorified before God rather than to be glorified in this world.
