Title: Receive Light with the Spirit

2013. 10. 13 Sunday morning worship service

Bible: Acts 9:1-5

Title: Receive Light with the Spirit

Acts 9:1-5 ‘1. Saul still felt threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, and he went to the high priest... And he said to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?" 5. And he answered, "Who are you, Lord?

The text is the scene of the apostle Paul receiving the light of the Lord Jesus appearing in the air on the road to Damascus during the persecution of Christians and being called as an apostle for the Gentiles (Acts 13:47). The Bible compares the world to spiritual darkness (John 3:18-19) and the opposite is light. What kind of light should we receive while looking at the events that Paul met?

The light called force (fw'") is used as the light of the sun, a lamp, or the light of life. It is compared to the Bible, 1) God is light (1 John 1:5, Job 37:15, Psalm 78:14). ;36:9) 2) Jesus is the light (John 1:4,9; John 8:12; 12:36) 3) The Holy Spirit is compared to the light (Hebrews 6:4) 4) The Word is the light (Psalms) 119:105) 5) The saints are the light (1 Thessalonians 5:5).

1. light from the sky

Paul, at noon, when a light brighter than the sunlight shone from heaven, like a bird caught up in the light of a lamp shining in darkness, he fell on the way and heard the voice of the Lord Jesus from heaven.

Acts 26:13 “It was noon, O king, and on the road, I saw a light brighter than the sun from heaven shining all around me and my companions” (Acts 9:3).

At the beginning of the creation of the heavens and earth, God made light first (Genesis 1:1), led Israel into a pillar of fire and cloud (Exodus 13:22), and appeared in the flames of a bush when he called Moses as leader (Exodus 3:2). . God responded to Elijah with fire on Mount Carmel (1 Kings 18:38), and made the beginning of the New Testament church to appear like tongues of fire to establish the New Testament church (Acts 2:).

This light was the fire and light that came down from heaven. The word light from heaven, fw'" ejk tou' ouvrnou', is translated in the English Bible as from heaven. It is not translated as a visible sky in the air. The strange light that mystics seek. Rather, it refers to the light of life carrying the character of God.

2. Those who bow down to Jesus have the word of life

Paul did not know Jesus because he realized or learned Jesus in the scientific development of the earth, but fell down before Jesus, who appeared as a light from heaven, and knew him.

Acts 9:4 “I fell to the ground and heard a voice…”

Today's positivists teach that changing people's thinking is the gospel, but that's not a light from heaven. They use hypnosis to encourage success in the world, but neither purpose nor method of life is biblical. To truly know Jesus and live a proper life, you must bow down before the Lord Jesus, the light of life.

Ephesians 5:9 “The fruit of the light is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth.” Even if we try to live up to the words of Ephesians 5:9, we cannot live like that because the light of life has not shined within us. In Christianity, it is a normal life to be led by the Holy Spirit rather than to live according to the will. Doing theology and systematically knowing the Bible does not automatically show action. The medium of the Word must be transformed into the Spirit.

John 6:63 “It is the Spirit that gives life; the flesh is of no avail. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.”

When our souls bow down before God, repent and humble themselves, all the good promises will work. If you do not open your spiritual eyes, you will not be able to see the Bible properly. We must open our spiritual eyes to see the world and distinguish generations.

Matthew 6:22 “The eye is the lamp of the body; therefore, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light.”

Revelation 3:18 "... buy eye drops and put them on your eyes so that you can see"

Proverbs 20:27 “The soul of man is the lamp of the LORD…

Repentance is also required. The spirit must be open. We must receive the light of life shining from heaven. People want to see the chapel or God, but seeing with their physical eyes does not bring salvation and wisdom. Spiritually, we must receive light from heaven. I pray that you will receive light from the Spirit.
