Title: Receiver/John 1:12
Content Recipients/John 1:12 Rev. Jaeguk Shin
“To all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God (John 1:12).
Why should we accept Jesus?
ⅰ. Because there is a life of bright light in Jesus.
Jesus came to this earth as the true light and became the light that shines to each person.
Without God, the human heart is evil, dirty, ugly, and lewd. I also like dark places. But when the light comes, all the darkness is destined to go away. No matter how dark it is, it can't stand out in front of the light.
Light is power, power, and power. The light of Jesus shines brightly in our hearts, souls, and homes. So Christianity is a religion of light, a religion of light.
Only Jesus is the light and delivers us from all life's difficulties, worries, envy, and strife.
And when the light of the Lord shines upon us, our lives and our souls are beautiful. Just as no life can exist without light, Jesus, who is the light of life, enables us to live our lives.
Then how should we live in this world? We must follow Jesus, who shines the light.
If you follow the light of Jesus, you won't lose your way. "Jesus spoke again, saying, I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life" (John 8:12)
ii. When you accept Jesus, your identity changes.
In the past, we were slaves to the devil, and by nature we were children of wrath.
But Jesus, who became the light, came and gave light to this earth. The moment you accept Jesus as the Savior of your life and the Lord of your life, you change your status as a child of God and receive citizenship in heaven.
“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away; behold, the new has come” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
iii. What does welcome mean?
To receive our Lord is to accept Jesus as the Lord and submit to the most important and highest position, the throne of the heart. That is, accepting Jesus as the Lord of life and life, and accepting it in our hearts.
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and sup with him, and he with me” (Revelation 3:20).
The Lord is knocking outside the door of our hearts. At that time, we must open our hearts to receive the Lord.
The moment we accept Christ, all our desires, such as our emotions, will, and knowledge, are satisfied and we enjoy the authority of God's children.
