Title: Recklessness and prudence / Proverbs 11:14
Content: Recklessness and prudence (Proverbs 11:14)
2000. 3. 8 Sunday evening sermon (Rev. Dooman Jo)
Peter said to Jesus, 'Even if everyone forsakes'. This is a frivolous statement that personifies oneself and others as sinners. So, are you saying that what Jesus said was vain? If Jesus were like that, he would have to examine himself and ask for help through those facts.
1. Consequences of Recklessness
1) The people are destroyed (Proverbs 11:14)
Trusting only one's own judgment is foolishness, and it will destroy you. You must be able to listen to the judgment of others and to listen to the advice of others. Who will follow the attitude of Samson, who lost both eyes while speaking recklessly, Esther, who spoke cute words at the right time, and Rahab!
2) Management is broken (Proverbs 15:22)
There are three types of persons mentioned in the law as unhappy. First, he knows but does not teach. Second, while teaching others, he lives independently of what he has taught him. Third, he is ignorant and does not receive guidance from others. If you respect others personally, you are bound to respect others as well.
3) Being reviled by foolishness (Proverbs 18:13)
Those who do without prayer, the Word, and consultation before planning a project will also havetily proceed with the project. The result is failure. You should pray a dry transplant, not a payment prayer. There is a difference between having a conversation in the form of a suggestion and having a conversation in the form of an approval. We need to check if there are times when we do stupid things to talk about payment.
4) Becoming wrong (Proverbs 19:2)
The mistake of Joshua (Joshua 9:14-15), the error of the man of God who came to Bethel from Judah (1 Kings 13:18-19). These are the mistake of King Jehoshaphat of Judah and Ahab king of Israel in hastily decided to attack Ramoth of Gilead (2 Chronicles 18:1-3, 19:2), and the mistake of King Saul. He longed to wait for Samuel, but could not wait until the end (1 Samuel 13:12). As a result of this impatience, he even lost the kingship.
5) to be harmed (Proverbs 22:3)
They fail to discern sin and become blind to evil, resulting in disobedience to God's will, resulting in harm. This is the case with Samson. They have no humanity or morality, they only satisfy their own greed, and this happens
2. Consequences of prudence
1) Enjoying peace (Proverbs 11:14)
We need to be guided by the wisdom of those who have much experience and spiritual wisdom (Acts 15:6). There is a saying in our proverb, 'Deaf 3 years, dumb 3 years, blind 3 years' to a daughter whose mother is about to get married. Isn't a proverb a story experienced by old adults?
2) Management is established (Proverbs 15:22)
"Council" is still the same today, and it was so in the past. It was also in the royal palace (1 Chronicles 27:32, Isa 1:26, Mic 4:9, Ezra 7:28). Here, the counselors are speaking on the premise that they are honest and wise counselors. Counseling refers to the wisdom of many people. Why do you have a session? It is for the purpose of reconciliation of opinions. There may be times when opinions cannot be reconciled. In that case, pray and do it next time. This is how the church becomes the management.
3) Draw out the counsel of the heart (Proverbs 20:5)
A person's heart is deep and cannot be understood (Proverbs 18:4), but it means that the serious person understands the heart. There is a proverb in our proverb, 'You have to cross the water to know, and a person can only know when you live.' There is a proverb that says, 'I know ten roads in the water, but I don't know the people in one road.'
4) Avoiding calamity (Proverbs 22:3)
Just as Lot fled from Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 19:12-28), like the disciples who escaped persecution (Acts 9:23-25, 13:50-51, 14:4-6, 2 Corinthians 11:32), David and Saul As Elijah flees Jezebel (1 Kings 17:3, 19:3), he escapes (1 Samuel 20:19, 23:19, 26:1). There is a saying, 'If you are in a bad year, eat rice cakes.' A prudent person avoids disaster. 'When evacuating from war, choose the mountain road.' there is a saying
3. How to be prudent
1) We must consult (Proverbs 15:22, 20:18)
"Consultation" means a meeting. Our Counselor is Christ (Isaiah 6:6). You will know through prayer (John 14:6). You should discuss it with everyone. You learn wisdom by listening to the opinions of many people. The way the impatient person becomes prudent is to have a discussion.
2) There must be many counselors (Proverbs 15:22)
You can prevent mistakes by stubbornness, prevent wrong treatment by temporary excitement, and gain the superior wisdom of others. We must be imitators.
3) Hear the story and answer (Proverbs 18:13)
If you listen to the story and answer it, you will not deal with things with blood (James 1:19), you will not make mistakes (Proverbs 19:2), and you will not harm yourself. And be humble and not be ashamed. So, you have to listen to the other person. You shouldn't just listen to one side and make a lawsuit. The words of the daughter-in-law in the kitchen are different, and the words of the mother-in-law in the bedroom are different. You have to think with the question, 'What is the reason for that person?', and make a fair judgment before answering.
4) Your feet must not be in a hurry
There is a Roman idiom saying, 'The quicker you hurry, the slower you go.' There is a Greek proverb, 'Impatience is the cause of unhappiness.' there is a word
5) You must have knowledge (Proverbs 19:2)
The more literate, the calmer, the more ignorant, the more frivolous. A person of faith prays before making a decision, but a person without faith makes a decision first.
6) Refrain from doing (Proverbs 21:29)
It refers to a person who acts like a fool in his outward behavior, and is honest on the inside, and a person who acts with restraint. First, neglect of prayer while working, being lazy while claiming to rest, third, claiming love but forgetting righteousness, fourth, claiming righteousness and losing the virtue of gentleness, fifth, being weak while striving for humility The sixth is to lose money while claiming to believe in Christ, the seventh to teach others but not to teach oneself, the eighth to become arrogant while advising others, and the ninth to serve as a servant of the Lord should be avoided
7) Do not go out in a hurry to quarrel (Proverbs 25:8-10)
It means don't sue in haste, don't fight in haste. If it's not a road, you don't have to go, and if people don't look like people, you don't have to go along with them. But when you go out in a hurry, you get into a fight. Therefore, we must handle it with caution. The more urgent, the more prayers. You have to keep in mind that it is a mistake to say that it is urgent.
