Title: It Will Be Full of Recognition of God's Glory
Key Verse: For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.
(Habakkuk 2:14)
Introduction
The conjunction “great fortune” is a word that expresses the reason, and explains why Babylon, the powerful at that time, was destroyed in an instant. The text explains that the reason is so that the world may be filled with the recognition of the glory of Jehovah.
And the expression “as the waters cover the sea” emphasizes the fullness.
“The world will be filled with the acknowledgment of the glory of the Lord”
This word is derived from Isaiah 11:9, but in the text the knowledge of Jehovah is changed to an acknowledgment of the glory of the Lord. And it will be full, which means that every creature on earth will know the knowledge of the glory of the Lord.
In other words, through the destruction of the powerful Babylonian Empire, the glory of God who rules the world will be revealed, and all the nations of the world will recognize it.
In contrast to Babylon's reckless efforts to build a powerful empire, the prophet Habakkuk prophesies of a glorious kingdom in which the forces of evil will be overthrown and the acknowledgment of the glory of the Lord will be full.
In the related verse, Isaiah 11:9, the prophet Isaiah says that when the kingdom of God comes upon this earth, the world will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord as waters cover the sea.
This means not only dreaming of the kingdom of God that will come through the destruction of the forces of ungodly evil, but also of the kingdom of God that will be filled with the glory of God.
Main subject
Verse 12 says woe to those who build the city by human effort, that is, in sinful ways and in vain labor; in verse 13 it says that such human efforts are only futile and futile; and in verse 14 it is said that the recognition of the glory of the Lord in the last days It is proclaiming that the world will be filled with it.
What, then, is acknowledgment of Jehovah's glory?
First, it means being full of the knowledge of Jehovah.
The prophet Habakkuk said that the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea, and the prophet Isaiah said that the world will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord. From this point of view, acknowledging the glory of Jehovah means having the knowledge of Jehovah.
The word “knowledge” here is the Hebrew word for “yada,” which means not simply knowledge, but deep knowledge as a couple sleep together.
God says that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. As such, when we know God rightly, we can immediately believe and do God's will.
Second, it is to restore God's order of creation.
Recognizing the glory of God is making God God and making the creature a creature.
When God created the heavens and the earth in six days, the heavens proclaimed His glory and the earth revealed His power (Psalm 19:1).
However, because of Adam's sin, God's order of creation was destroyed.
So God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to us to save us and restore the order of creation.
Therefore, we, who have been saved by the grace of Jesus Christ, should be thankful for that grace and work to restore the broken creation order in various places.
We must proclaim that God is Lord not only at church, but also at home, at school, at work, and even at outdoor entertainment.
As Christians, we must strive to make sure that God is the Lord and reigns in all parts of the world.
When God's creation order is restored everywhere in this way, the world will be filled with the recognition of God's glory.
What should we do?
Now, as saved people, we have a work to do in order for the world to recognize Jehovah's glory. But this mission is not like the people of the world.
Its mission is like a watchman who climbs up a tower to protect a castle, because an urgent situation has to be reported to the people in the castle.
First, above all else, we must receive the Word of God ourselves. The prophet Habakkuk said he was waiting and waiting to see what God would say to him (verse 1).
To wait here means to take a closer look at things in order to get some information.
Also, the word "look" means to receive in the heart with longing.
As God's workers, we must first receive God's Word with the heart of a watchman.
Second, we must share the Word of God.
When we realize the truth that God has given us through the Word of God, we must share it with others.
The prophet Habakkuk is commanded to write clearly on tablets the words given from God so that anyone can run and see them (verse 2).
To clearly engrave here means to make clear the content by explaining in detail.
In other words, what God has given us is not simply to keep in our hearts, but to share it with all people.
Just as the prophets and apostles shared the word they received from God, we should also share the word of God with those around us.
Dear saints!
Let us remember that evil perishes and God triumphs.
All evil will be judged. Although Babylon prospered for a short time, it did not last long. Their fate had already been decided.
Verse 14 says that the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea. No one can predict what will happen to the device.
But we can be sure of one great fact: that God ultimately triumphs.
Even if the enemies seem to be strong and strong, the day will come when all things in heaven, on earth, and under the earth will kneel before the name of Jesus and confess that they are Lord.
The swarm will fill the earth with the glory of God.
A new heaven and a new die will be established.
Let us bow quietly before God and give glory to Him.
Let us praise God for His grace and mercy and long for Him with all our hearts.
