Title: Redemption Love (Ho 03:1-5)

Content Chapter 3 describes God's supreme love and thorough redemption for man. The lustful woman Gomer left the house again, and Hosea found her again and paid the price to take her as his wife. Through this series of processes, God's love was revealed. Gomer is a symbol of Israel's spiritual, moral, and political sins that gave rise to a spiritual dark age. She is a sinful Israel.

Through the prophet Hosea, we discover the redemptive revelation that God sent the Savior Jesus Christ for us.1) Just as Hosea married Gomer, so Jehovah became the husband of Israel.

2) Gomer's departure from Hosea and being defiled with another man means that Israel left the LORD and became defiled with Baal worship.

3) Just as Gomer was sold into slavery by governments, so it was prophesied that the nation of Israel would leave Jehoah and be sold to the world's great powers into slavery.

4) As Hosea was directed by God to restore Gomer to normal, so Jehovah will restore the remnant of Israel.

5) Just as Hosea redeemed her with silver and barley to restore Gomer, so Christ will redeem the true Israel by paying the price of His own blood.

6) The prophet Hosea, who appears here, foreshadows Jesus Christ, the savior of grace who will appear in the last days.

7) In the end, Israel is Gomer, and even though their descendants are the descendants of Gomer, the promise of the hope of salvation by seeking David (Jesus) and moving toward grace is always shining. In other words, sinners have the hope of the Messiah promise.

2. Central Idea Just as Hosea healed Gomer, an adulteress, God restores and loves Israel.

3. Text division Topic: The restored marriage of Hosea 3:1 / God's command 2-3 / Hosea's obedience 4-5 / Illustrated example

4. Fact Observation Verse 3:1: The enjoyment of raisins refers to the delicacies associated with Paul's worship, which were the bread offered to the god Ashtaroth (Jeremiah 7:18, 44:19).

Verse 2: A homer and a half of barley is equal to 15 shekels, which is equivalent to the price of a slave (Ex 21:32) and 30 shekels (including 15 pieces of silver).

Verse 3: When you say that you are with me many days, it means that you sit still and wait for me.

Verse 4: It refers to the long period of the Assyrian captivity of the children of Israel. Here, the ephod was not a garment worn by a priest, but was used for witchcraft purposes. The ephod and the teraphim are divination methods. God forbade this (1 Samuel 15:23; 2 Kings 23:24).

Verse 5: Then they shall return refers to the time of the restoration of Israel. The primary meaning refers to the return from captivity, and the secondary meaning refers to the time of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

Part II. Organization This material is organized on the premise of the evening service. Compared to those who come to worship during the day, those who come out on Wednesday evenings will have a heart that longs for the Word. So, strictly speaking, some argue that the focus of the sermon should be on the Wednesday worship service or the early morning sermon. Sermons for daytime worship should be given the importance of new believers, and if the gospel presentation is easy and strong, the evening or dawn needs to be education-oriented. If possible, it would be more beneficial if it was organized in such a way that the members could feel the joy of studying the text on their own. Therefore, it seems to be better to compose the message by focusing on meditation training to pay attention to and apply the meaning of the text (a method of revealing, applying, and revealing the meaning of each verse even if the unity is somewhat neglected).

Text: Ho 3:1-5 Title: Love of Redemption Central Content: God never gives up on His beloved children, and He seeks them again even at a price.

Sermon Purpose: To convince you of God's love and absolute grace.

Introduction 1) Summary of contents so far.

2) Today's text outline.

I. God wants the relationship to be restored (1).

A. Gomer was a harlot who left the house on her own.

1. There was no clear reason to run away without permission. And she had three children. She gave up her role as a mother.

2. She committed the crime of having an affair with another man. I gave up on the purity of my home. broke the commandment It was an unforgivable sin.

3. If the custom of that time was followed, it was a sin that deserved to be stoned to death.

4. Nevertheless, God commanded that Gomer be brought back.

B. Gomel's appearance is exactly what I am.

1. Even though I knew what God wanted me to do, I didn't do it. My appearance is the same as the fornication Gomer. My act of pursuing the glory of the world rather than the glory of God is spiritual fornication.

2. But God never gives up on us. Humans act according to their own interests, but God does not seek interests. If you think that God saved you to make a profit through you, you are mistaken.

3. Because of the love of Jesus, we are saved. Therefore, we must repay the love of the Lord. The Lord wants us to love others.

4. You must forgive and love others even as much as you have been forgiven by your master.

II. God paid the price to restore our relationship (2-3).

A. He told me to pay money to buy my wife who left home.

1. Gomer was rightfully Hosea's wife. Even if I received a reward, I was in a bad mood. But God told me to buy it with money.

2. The amount God offered was the price of one slave.

3. The Lord told us to make friends with unrighteous riches. It is said that the thief should reward the thief who stole his things so that he may realize the love of God.

B. God paid his only son to buy us.

1. God's love is a true love that cannot give up on us. Not of any good value to us, but unconditional love saved us.

2. Judas sold Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. Although Satan bought Jesus' body, he could not buy his soul. The Lord died on the cross as Satan requested, but rose from the dead on the third day. The material things of the world are, after all, unrighteous wealth. There is no need for material things in heaven.

3. If the saints have suffered material losses to keep their faith, if they have invested materially to make friends, it is never a loss. However, if material matter has been quarreled before, material things may remain, but where can we find lost faith?

4. What would you pay for the glory of God? Remember that when you pay for the little things (worldly riches), you get the big things.

III. The result of the atonement is the coming of the age of grace (4-5).

A. Israel, who undergoes refinement, will confess only God as Lord.

1. Although their suffering was the result of their own choice, it gave good results that led Israel to seek God. Satan tormented their bodies, but God restored their souls.

2. As a result of his captivity, he learned which god was the true god.

3. Verse 5 refers to the restoration of Israel to be accomplished in the future.

B. The result of the atonement is grace, which is future.

1. Don't wait for the seeds to sprout right before your eyes. The treasures stored up in the heavenly storehouse for spiritual fruit cannot be recorded in the world's savings account.

2. Physical trials, sacrifices, and unrighteous riches paid for friends benefit everyone. The obedience of the Lord not only saved us, who were Gentiles, but also the nation of Israel, who crucified the Lord.

Conclusion God's love is a substitutionary love that pays a price. To restore our relationship. We have given up our own rights, but the Lord has paid the price to be on an equal footing for us. So, he was humiliated by the rogues and died on the cross. But you got something better. The love of the ransom is rewarded with something more valuable. Invest in unrighteous wealth for your friend.
