Text: Psalm 1:1-6, Matthew 5:1-12
There are eight sinners who will be cast into the second death, the lake of fire, in God's righteous judgment. “The cowardly, the unbelievers, the wicked, the murderers, the fornicators, the sorcerers, the idolaters, all the liars
(Revelation 21:8). Let's all buy so that we don't belong here. Just like the old poet's song, you just have to keep the 'attitude of the blessed' in your life (Psalm 1:1-6). And you just have to live according to the guidance of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:16-24). I want to know more about the details of my life. These are the words of Jesus Christ. “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Those who mourn..., the meek..., those who hunger and thirst for righteousness..., the merciful..., the pure in heart..., the peacemakers... The blessing to receive is heaven (Matthew 5:3-10).
It reminds us of the grace of eternal life (John 3:16; John 20:31; 1 John 5:13) that we receive through faith in Jesus Christ. Although it is still as if we are looking in a mirror (1 Corinthians 13:12a), these are blessings that have nothing to do with the graces we have tasted. This is because they are tasting the new life that comes from being born again by water and the Spirit (John 3:5). So, the ‘conditions of the eight blessings’ are not unfamiliar at all. Because it is still imperfect, but it must be ours (Romans 10:10). Let's take a look at the sequel to the text. There are trials of life that follow like a shadow in the new life started anew in Christ (Matthew 5:10). It is 'cursing and persecution'. “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me; rejoice and be glad” (Matthew 5:11,12a). This is the reaction to take in the face of shame.
Amen is a difficult word to say. But it is the word of our Lord. Let's take a look at the following words. “Great is your reward in heaven. So they persecuted the prophets who were before you” (Matthew 5:12b). Satan's tricks in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:1-5) continue outside of Eden. This must also be some providence of God. There is the story of Tolstoy's 'Foolish Ivan'. It is the story of the emperor always leaving the palace open and inviting guests in, but instead of having an entrance ticket, he had his hands checked with his rough hands. When we are unfairly persecuted, he tells us to remember the persecution suffered by our ancestors of faith who lived before us. The persecution and trials of Jesus' people are also told. These are reactions of darkness that dislike light. They distorted all the precious contents of the Christian faith in this way, slandering and persecuting them.
