Sermon text

The Harvest Festival is a season of thanksgiving.

I talked about how to keep it last week

In order to live according to God's Word, it must be planted in our hearts.

What is the content??

First, on the festival of harvest, we offer gifts as much as we receive blessings.

(Deuteronomy 16:10) You shall keep the Feast of Weeks before the LORD your God, counting on your strength, as the LORD your God has blessed you, and offering a voluntary gift.

It is counting the blessings that God has given them and giving them away.

In other words, it is to count how much God has blessed me and to give to God as much as he has blessed me.

We want to know how much blessing God has given us.

It's about counting the blessings God has given you.

The second is a voluntary offering.

(Deuteronomy 16:10) You shall keep the Feast of Weeks before the LORD your God, counting on your strength, as the LORD your God has blessed you, and offering a voluntary gift.

He told us not to give it by force, but to give it with a willing and joyful heart.

(Matthew 6:21) For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

What God wants is to see our hearts, not material things.

So, preparing in advance is not a forced, but a voluntary gift.

(2 Corinthians 9:5) Therefore, I thought it necessary to exhort these brothers to go to you first and prepare in advance the offering you promised before.

A voluntary gift is to be done as you have decided in your heart, and not by force or stinginess.

(2 Corinthians 9:7) Let each one do just as he has decided in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Why does God require material things from us?

(2 Corinthians 9:8) God is able to make all grace abound toward you, so that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.

Because he wants us to live a life of abundance and to bless us abundantly.

The third is to take care of your neighbors

He also told them to rejoice and give thanks and praise to those around them who are in need, such as orphans, widows, and strangers.

(Deut 16:11) Rejoice before the LORD your God in the place the LORD your God chooses to put his name, you and your children and your slaves and your slaves and the Levites who live in your city, and the stranger and the orphan and the widow who are among you.

(Deuteronomy 16:12) Remember that you were a slave in Egypt, and you shall keep these ordinances and do them.

This year, as we announced in our ministry plan at the beginning of the year, we are going to comfort the elderly at Lazarus's house to take care of our neighbors.

Today's Bible verse is teaching about what to be thankful for on the Feast of Harvest.

(Deuteronomy 16:15) In the place the LORD your God chooses, you shall keep a feast before the LORD your God for seven days, and you shall rejoice in all the joy that the LORD your God will bless you in all your goods and in all that you put your hands on.

The Thanksgiving of Harvest Festival is to fully enjoy

How to be happy is to fully enjoy it?

To be whole is not to be a part that cannot be fragmented

Blessings given and blessings given

Gratitude is in two pieces

One piece is to be thankful for the blessing you have given. Another piece is to be thankful for the blessing you have given.

Therefore, full thanksgiving is to give thanks for the blessings given and to give thanks for the blessings given

The first is to be thankful for the blessings you have given us.

The Harvest Festival is a season to give thanks for God's grace given to us during the first half of this year.

(Ex 23:16) Celebrate the Feast of Harvest, for you reap the firstfruits of what you sowed in the field.

This means a festival of thanksgiving when people are moved with the fruits they have worked hard for. It is a blessing to be able to work on this earth.

(Ecclesiastes 9:10) Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for there is neither work nor plan nor knowledge nor wisdom in Hades, into which you are going.

There are many things to do when you go to heaven, but nothing to do when you go to hell.

It is a blessing to be able to work on this earth

So, it is a blessing in the womb to be faithful in taking on the position

The saints who know these heavenly secrets are loyal and longing for their duties in order to dedicate themselves.

1. The greatest thing is salvation

Another basic posture to keep the Feast of Harvest is the thrill of salvation.

It is by the grace of God that we are saved and become children of God. Knowing this is the basis of faith

(Matthew 16:26) For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul? What will a man give in exchange for his life?

Gratitude is not just giving thanks for material things. Thank you more for what you have saved than for what you gave me.

Are you more grateful for what your parents gave birth to and raised you? Are you more grateful to pass on your fortune? Immature children only know how to be grateful for bequeathing their wealth.

If you are a mature child, you will be more grateful for giving birth to and nurturing them than for giving them your property.

So is our faith. It is more grateful for salvation than material things. What is the use of material things if you are not saved? Don't you die eating like a pig? What good is a good job if you are not saved?

Isn't it like working like a cow and then dying? Because we are saved, material things are meaningful. A good job is meaningful because you have been saved. do you believe

Dear saints, I hope you keep the Thanksgiving Day with the thrill of salvation.

2. Thank you for giving me a home

(Ecclesiastes 9:9) Live joyfully with your beloved wife all the days of your vain life, all the vain days that God has given you under the sun.

So let's give thanks to God for giving us a home

3. Gratitude for blessings to live

(Ecclesiastes 5:19) It is a gift from God that God has given to every person riches and wealth, that they may enjoy it, and that they may receive a division and rejoice in their hard work.

To any person, God has given riches and wealth as a gift

He allowed us to enjoy this blessing, the gift of God.

He blessed health so that he can live a healthy life, and he blessed material things so that he can enjoy material blessings. However, there are some people who live without enjoying the blessings that God has given.

(Ecclesiastes 6:2) Some have received from God riches, riches, and honor, because they lack all the desires of their soul, but have not been able to enjoy it, so others enjoy it. This is also vanity and an evil disease.

There are people who cannot enjoy it, and there are people who enjoy the blessings given to them.

There is an elder who has lived enjoying the blessings God has given him.

This is Elder Kim Hyung-nam, who founded many pioneering churches as the president of Ilshin Textile and Jeonnam Textile, served as the first president of Soongsil University, and was an elder of Seorim Church.

This is the story of when he became treasurer at the General Assembly in 1957.

It was a time when the finances of the General Assembly were indescribably difficult.

It is said that he made several million won (millions of won at the time was a huge amount) in his own company, but never went back after donating it at the end of the year. So someone asked, "Is this okay?" Then he replied: ?ow good is it that I used the money God entrusted to me and then used it for God? work???

That's right

Giving is not giving thanks for what you have.

The material things I own are only managing God's material things.

Giving is the use of God's things according to the will of God.

You can't do it even if you hate Recognizing God is truly an attitude of giving.

When I give back to God what God has entrusted to me, true gratitude comes.

Such gratitude changes our lives.

Gratitude brings happiness

Gratitude brings love

Thank you for blessings

Gratitude brings healing

If you give thanks, peace will come

If you give thanks, blessings will come.

Give thanks, enjoy a blessed life, and give glory to God
