Title: Remember This, O LORD
Contents Even though God emits the smoke of wrath, saints who do not move in the coordinates of faith! When God, whom they believed in, spends a time of silence, deaf people groan and vomit. God, who sees the sins of mankind, has redeemed the people of Israel from ancient times and made them his tribe. Also, God designated Mount Zion where they would live and watched the saints being destroyed forever. Psalm 74 records the poet's mourning over the destruction of the city of Jerusalem and his prayer for restoration of the ruined state of his chosen people. At this time the poet cried out to the Lord, “Remember this” (Psalm 74:2).
First, let us control our emotions (Psalm 74:3-8).
The psalmist prayed to God about the tyranny of the tyranny of the Lord's adversaries defiling the sanctuary, setting fire to the midst of the Lord's congregation, and setting their own flags as a sign (Psalm 74:4). Seeing their ax atrocities and mace destroying the holy things of the Lord and sacrificing them, the poet was disheartened. Not only that, but because the Lord's sanctuary was burned and the place of the Lord's name was defiled and fell to the ground, hatred and feelings of enmity grew (Psalm 74:7-8).
Second, let us also rule injustice (Psalm 74:9-17).
The poet accuses God of the atrocities of the enemies who have damaged God's glory, and encourages the people to have resentment (Psalm 74:22). And “O God! How long will the adversary blaspheme, and the enemy will blaspheme your name forever?... Save me with your right hand by your power.” The poet expected God to grant righteous chastisement and curses, and praised the God who set the boundaries of the mountains, rivers, and fields of the whole earth. The psalmist also confessed that the light of the four seasons and the day and night depend on the Lord (Psalm 74:17).
Dear saint! The poet saw the ruined city of Jerusalem and prayed earnestly that the Lord would drive out his enemies. He trusted the lives of the poor to God and hoped that the deeds of the foolish would be remembered. And I prayed for God to relieve the bitterness of those who complained and to destroy the forces and actions that slandered the Lord all day long. So let us be patient and love the work of the church community (Psalm 74:22-23). -Amen-
