Title: Renew My Spirit

Contents

Main text: Psalm 51 verses 1-13

Psalm 51 is David's prayer and contains the content of thorough repentance before God. 51:1-2 “Break out my transgression, O God. Wash away my iniquities and cleanse me from my sins.” 51:10 “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew in me a right spirit.” In order for our spirit to be renewed (to become one after God's own heart), we must repent. In order for the spirit to live, to be renewed, and to have life, we must repent.

King David lived as a man after God's own heart. In 1 Samuel 13:14, the prophet Samuel prophesied when King Saul was proud and disregarded God's servant Samuel the prophet and disobeyed God's commands. “God sought a man after his own heart and made him the leader of his people.” Acts 13:22 says, “I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after my own heart.” David lived an upright life with sincerity, sincerity, and faith. That is why God was pleased with David. To list representative items,

First, he never harmed the anointed. He respected God so much that even if King Saul tried to kill him several times, he did not intend to kill him (1 Samuel 24:4-6 ② 1 Samuel 26:12), even though he had the opportunity to kill him twice (1 Samuel 24:4-6 ② 1 Samuel 26:12), he was anointed by God. They did not kill Saul, who became king.

Second, he was a man who could listen to the rebuke of others.

He did not rebuke or complain about the prophet who revealed his sins and rebuked him because of his status as a servant of God.

Third, I always lived with tears of repentance. (Psalm 51:3)

Fourth, we sang and served only God. In the history of Israel, many kings worshiped idols, and even Solomon, the king of wisdom, lost his faith in God in his old age, but David only served God with one single heart. Therefore, when we look at the kings, the kings, the kings, the kings, and the kings, the few kings who served God well and who gave him good deeds were consistently referred to as “He walked in the way of King David, and did what was right in the sight of the Lord.” praised.

Fifth, we had the heart to build a temple. Although God did not allow the building to be built during the time of his son Solomon because God shed a lot of blood in the war, he was never arrogant even though he imported the cedar wood needed to build it later and gave 12,003 tons of gold needed for the building to God.

Although David was such a faithful king, he took the wife of a subordinate, Uriah, and made Uriah die on the battlefield. Others did not know, but God's servant Nathan the prophet knew and came to the king (2 Samuel 12:1ff). Then he tells King David. “O king, in a village lived a rich man and a poor man. The rich man had very many sheep and cattle, and the poor man only had one ewe lamb. .” When King David heard this, he was furious. “A man like that must die, so pay back four times the lamb.” In 2 Samuel 12:7, Nathan said to David, “You are the man, O king.” Then David repents. No matter how good and conscientious he is, he says, "Hey, there's no one here, put such a ruthless person in prison" or "Strike the neck." Rather, David repented before God. Fasting and praying all night for seven days.

He was a man of repentance. “Renew my spirit.” He was a praying man. That is why God was pleased with David. We too must repent and long for the filling of the Holy Spirit in order to become one after God. Please note that King David lived more repentantly than we did, even though it was not the age of the Holy Spirit.

True repentance is to repent like David and never commit such a sin again. Only through this repentance can our spirit be renewed. In fact, from the culture of that time, David was a king, so taking a woman and killing one of his men is not a problem. But he repents. Verse 1-2 “Blot my transgressions. Cleanse me of my sins.” I want you to stay away from sin. Here, ‘bloom’ refers to the creditor tearing the bond deed and liquidating the debt relationship. We Christians should live like this. We must be completely free from sin. John the Baptist (Matthew 3:2) also said, “Repent.” Jesus also (Matthew 4:17) said, “Repent.”

In 1990, there was a 48-hour power outage in New York, USA. At that time, ten thousand illegitimate children were born. Greed and lust make the old man victorious. On the other hand, since true repentance means that my soul is living toward God, even if I sin a little, I cannot not repent.

If it is dark, it may be a little darker. Because we are in sin, we may sin again. Most people say that they live in sin and say, “How am I doing this?” I think, but I don't think so. At this time my mind must be open against God. Honestly, a king like David doesn't have money? No power? No women? Don't have a nice home? What is it that he regrets and prays with tears in his eyes before God? This is his great point. Even after repenting so much, David goes through two trials. (1) The son born to Bathsheba dies. David died for his sins. (2) The sword will not leave David's house. David's son Absalom rebelled in exchange for taking his wife, and he committed concubines while David was not there. “Lord! Please watch. Help me not to sin.”

There must be repentance that God wants. I cannot worship without the heart that I am a sinner. If you confess that you are a sinner and worship, there is ① repentance, ② emotion, ③ thanksgiving, and ④ tears. God is pleased with repentance, not the level of reflection. I pray that your spirit will be renewed as you sincerely confess that you are a sinner and repent. Then God will comfort the broken heart. He forgives those who repent. I love you. And more blessings. Hallelujah!
