Title: River of Living Water (John 07:37-39)
Content These days, the problem of water is serious.
The wave of tap water caused by an impurity called "phenol" in a society turbulent due to the Suseo incident makes us realize the preciousness of water once again. Mineral water is so good that it costs 10,000 won for every mineral spring in the mountains.
When a human cries out that they are thirsty, they are more thirsty, and when they say that they are thirsty, they shoot to quench their thirst, they are more thirsty. They drink easy soft drinks when they are thirsty. But when they drink soft drinks, they become more thirsty. Modern people are drowning in the sea of gold, the sea of machines, the sea of technology, the sea of civilization, the sea of violence, and the sea of human loss.
Since ancient times, humans have started digging springs to quench their thirst. And all civilizations have developed along rivers.
We try to satisfy human thirst with cultural art, but it doesn't work. We expected that life would be enriched and fresh by this spring, but our thirst cannot be quenched by that well.
In today's world, we begin to dig the fountain of health to satisfy our physical thirst. They also dig a fountain of knowledge to quench their thirst for knowledge.
I try to use education for the sake of character development, but it doesn't work.
No matter how much we bring our personality, human beings are fundamentally human beings conceived in sin and destined to die. They sell fountains of machines and technology to satisfy their thirst to live well.
A fountain of religion was dug to quench the thirst of curiosity and fear about death and the future. In order to dig a spring and solve the problems there, the more you drink the water, the more thirsty you get.
The more money you have, the more knowledge you have, and the more comfortable you are, the more thirsty you become.
In the desert of life, we met a mirage while traveling to quench our thirst. Today, humans are following the mirage and collapse in the wide desert and die.
And they try to quench their thirst by drawing water from wells dug by humans, but they cannot solve that problem. We can't save water to quench our thirst and it's just frustrating.
Unless you are connected with Jesus Christ, the source of living water, you cannot quench your thirst no matter how deep you are.
“As the deer longs for streams, so my soul thirsts for you, O God.” (Psalm 42:1) Amos 8:11 “Behold, the days are coming, saith the Lord GOD, I will send a famine upon the land. Not hunger for food, not thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the word of the LORD." John 6:35 "He who believes in me will never thirst." John 4:14 “Whoever drinks the water that I will give him will never thirst, and the water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water springing up to everlasting life.” came for In the meeting of Jesus with the woman at the well, she could not understand the deep and broad meaning of Jesus through her weak insight.
The woman lacked spiritual power to recognize the gift of God in Jesus. That is why, on the cross, he cried out that he was thirsty to solve this problem and solved our problem.
On the last cross, Jesus, who generously gave every drop of blood and water, squeezes himself on the cross to make the stream of true life burst.
With his thirst, he bursts upon man the fountain of his fountain.
The water flowing from his side made the fountain of life, a stream of eternal life to history.
Instead, he was thirsty and satiated.
By his thirst he opened the fountains and streams of eternal life.
That is why it is said that he will not be thirsty for those who come to visit him.
The woman at the well in Samaria was able to receive the true living water by meeting Jesus Christ.
Through meeting Jesus Christ, we can know who we are, and only through Him can we drink the true living water.
To make pure, clean, pure, and fresh living water our own, let's bring it up with a bucket called Jesus.
Today's text speaks of the Holy Spirit.
We are wandering by the well of life because we do not have a well to obtain living water for our souls. We are trying to draw water from this well, but we are wandering because we cannot find a stream of the true spring water.
