Title: Response to Jesus' sermon/John 10:19-33
Contents
Jesus opened the eyes of the blind and preached that He is our Good Shepherd and that we are His Lambs. Those who heard it responded.
There were two types of responses. First, people were divided after hearing the sermon. They did not receive the word of the Lord as Amen and received it with grace, but rather they put it on a cutting board and cut it. Disputes arose over the word. And on the other hand, what they say to Jesus is crazy. I said I was possessed. In this way, they blasphemed the Lord, rejected the Lord, and said such words that were very fatal to those who tried to believe in Him. This is a very malicious conspiracy, a vile remark that pours cold water on those who try to believe in and follow the Lord, and it is a word that severely tarnishes the work of the Lord.
It is a very sad story. Of course, this is not the first time Jesus has heard these words. In Mark 3:21, his relatives and his family said they were crazy about the Lord. And in Mark 3:12,22 Matthew 12:22-24, the Lord heals a man possessed by a demon, so the Lord is speaking of the Lord as one possessed by a demon. It is also said to be crazy. The Lord raised the dead, healed those who were sick for 38 years from birth, and healed those who were blind from birth.
Another response is, "Or say, these are not the words of a demon-possessed man" (verse 21). This is the first part of Chapter 10. I am the good shepherd I said that I lay down my life for the sheep. Therefore, it is impossible for a madman to say such a thing. And how can a demon make the eyes of the blind appear? It was not done by the devil, but by God. This is what you believe.
Then our Lord spoke the word, and the time and place are coming out. It was said that it was the act of the eldest son Solomon. A sanctuary is a long passage made like a corridor from Solomon's palace to the temple. However, it is such a long passageway that can be covered with a roof to block the sunlight and block the rain. And when it comes to this time of year, it is the "Feast of Passover", winter. Even today, the Jewish people keep this Feast of Feasts.
The meaning of the Feast of Pentecost is “Hanukkah” in Hebrew. "Hanukkah" means "cleansed" and sanctified. It means 'to sanctify'. And this word does not appear in the Old Testament. There is a mention in the New Testament, but no explanation. This Feast of Passion took place in a history of Israel that was in the middle period between the Old and New Testaments, that is, about 500 years before the Gospels of Malachi and Matthew were written.
In 170 B.C., Syria invaded Israel. They captured Jerusalem and slaughtered 80,000 of its citizens. And they took terrible measures such as prohibiting anyone from writing the Bible, forbidding circumcision, and not offering sacrifices to God in the temple. And furthermore, the people of Israel were living in pain under this terrible rule.
Then, in 164 B.C., a man named Maccabius met his brother and Israel
We gathered young people from all over the place and armed them. Then they defeated the Syrian army and became independent. The temple has been restored. The altar was renewed. And the day that we were moved by God and built an altar in the temple and worshiped it is the Feast of Pentecost.
Our Lord preached the gospel at such a meaningful time, and this is a time to comfort each other and rejoice in each other, so it is a season where the Lord sets his heart and speaks confidently. Jesus said the sheep of Jesus hear the voice of Jesus. they know me I keep them. they follow me He said no one could snatch them from me. This is a very confident, powerful, and powerful sermon.
However, following these sermons, there are two reactions from the unbeliever. Because they are not the Lord's sheep (verse 26). Not only did they not believe in the Lord, but they did not follow the Lord (verse 27), claiming that the Lord was crazy (verse 20), blaspheming (verse 33), and trying to kill the Lord (verse 31).
And another category said that there are those who believe in the Lord. When these believers saw what the Lord had done, they knew that He really was the Christ, so the Lord said, "I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand" (verse 28). ) said. This is the word of promise that the Lord will take responsibility for, feed, guard, protect, and guide.
All of you are the Lord's sheep, and follow the Lord, hear the word of the Lord, and have the eternal life that the Lord gives, and will not perish, and no hand shall snatch it from him” (verse 28). It is the word of promise that speaks of keeping, protecting, and guiding.
Therefore, even though we, too, believe in Jesus and sometimes hear that we are crazy, fanatical, or wrong, we know that we believe well and love the Lord even more passionately and rely on Him to enjoy the eternal life that He gives us, to glorify Him before Him, and to be victorious. I hope all the saints are.
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know you, and they follow me.”
(John 10:27)
