"Restore God's Anointed Passion!"
The funeral and funeral service for the late Dr. Horace Grant Underwood, who lived his whole life more like a Korean than a Korean, was held on January 19th at Yonsei University's Ruth Chapel and at Seoul Foreigner Cemetery Park (Yanghwajin), respectively.
Dr. Won Il-han was born on October 11, 1917, the year after the death of missionary Horace Grant Underwood, at the missionary's house near Namdaemun. Except for his studies and military service, he never left Korea for the rest of his life. He is a person who witnessed with his own eyes the truthfulness of the gospel that his father, Missionary Hankyung Won, nurtured with tears. He was a practicing educator and a true teacher who showed an example of mission and service, but he was a kind and caring grandfather who never lost his smile.
1> Grandpa Grant Underwood was the first foreign missionary to set foot in Korean soil and became the seed of the gospel in Korean church history.
-1885 As the first Korean missionary dispatched by the North Presbyterian Mission in the United States
<1>I arrived in Incheon with Missionary Appenzeller of the Methodist Church.
<2> Missionary Wonderwood worked as a teacher in Jejungwon, founded by medical missionary Allen.
<3> In 1886, he established an orphanage and a school for them, and began evangelism around the mountainous areas.
<4> Missionary Underwood, who exclaimed, "Joseon is the country in the middle of my heart" every lecture touring the United States, passed away in 1917 after receiving God's call while staying in the United States for treatment.
2> The Underwood family's love for Korea led to their son, missionary Horace Horton Underwood. Missionary Won Han-kyung devotedly volunteered to refugees who returned from abroad after liberation and to orphans, beggars, and the elderly who suffered from the Korean War. Missionary Edelvan Wagner, who served as a professor at Yeonhui College as his wife, had a severe left-right conflict. In 1949, he was attacked and martyred. In 1951, Missionary Won Won was also martyred at the refugee camp in Busan and was buried in Yanghwajin.
I would like to call this a co-worker of God.
<God is looking for God's co-workers like this today.>
In today's text Matthew 4:17-25
“He saw them casting their nets” (verse 18), “When he saw the casting of nets, he called (verse 21), and “Follow me” (verse 19).
The church is a place where God carefully observes and calls people to gather.
What have you been paying close attention to?
You saw the casting of nets. You saw the casting of nets.
In other words, I saw you working with sincerity and passion in the field of life. God does not use idle people.
God is still looking for God's co-workers today.
Become a co-worker of God working with God!
Being a disciple, a co-worker of God
First, <I became a disciple because God came to me>
"Ephesians 2:8 - By grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourselves.
It's a gift from God."
Application> God's greatest concern.- Searching for lost souls, abandoned souls, and fallen souls.
Second, there are things to give up and things to give up.
<When the disciples respond to the Lord's call, there is a characteristic>
“They left their nets and followed Jesus” (verse 20).
They immediately left the boat and their father and followed Jesus (verse 22).
what to watch out for
It is not like anyone when you leave it behind and chase it, but it is possible only when there is a special purpose.
Why would God require an ordinary housewife to abandon her family? It is requested when there is a special purpose.
It's not something you ask of an ordinary housewife. Are you asking to break up your family? It's not like that.
Apply>
<The important thing is that in order to become a disciple of the Lord, there are things you have to give up and things you have to give up on.>
<Sometimes you have to give up revenge, things you cannot forgive, and worldly desires.>
The hardest thing in the world - to forgive
Ex) The pastor said, “Let’s pray for forgiveness!” And after praying
The person you want to forgive, wake up. I will pray for you.
Then one side can't forgive me! I can't forgive you!" Han <Master Kwon> shouted.
Who can I not forgive? - My husband is called.
Why! I can't forgive you? - When I was young, I kicked a full-term child and dragged my hair, on
The locals are dumb.
Reason- Because, in the opinion of Mr. Kwon, his family is poor.
1> God's word is "forgiveness", and when you forgive, you feel like your own existence is destroyed.
2> Because of this, it improves without knowing where it hurts 'Walking general hospital'
Alternatives> If you do not forgive, you will not be able to experience God and your body will become ill.
You cannot be a true disciple.
To forgive>
1. Be clear about whom to forgive!
2. Think about how the other person behaved and specifically how they made you suffer.
3. The Lord forgives this. Forgive me, in the name of Jesus, proclaim!
4. Let me break the anger holding me back, in the name of Jesus!
Third, disciples have a mission.
<And the Lord set an example for the co-workers to do.>
(verse 23)
First, he teaches (education)
Second, Preaching (Preaching)
Third, He did the work of healing (healing).
Do what you serve!
A church with a lot of bystanders never works. 10 people who are 100% committed do greater things than 100 people who are 99% committed. Let's restore the passion for lost souls!
