Results of obedience (John 11:40-44)
Overview of John 11 -

1. Lazarus, who is ill to die (the one whom the Lord loves) - Misfortune that came to a family who believed too well
2. It's not a deathly disease, it's for the glory of God -
Types of sickness: Distinguishing between mortal and immortal diseases (ex: Job's disease and King Herod's disease)
3. He stayed two more days (distance from Jerusalem) - The Lord did not answer immediately: Refinement, trial, trial
God Requires Patience - Miracles do not happen when people expect them, but when God wants them. - The sovereign's authority.

4. Sister Maria's resentment
11:21 Martha said to Jesus, "If you had been here, my brother would not have died."
11:32 When Mary came to Jesus and saw him, she fell at his feet and said, "If you had been here, my brother would not have died."
Jesus' Answer - Resurrection and Life
A manifest lack of faith - I will live again in the resurrection on the last day.
Faith must always be present. - God is alive and is working now.
5. Jew's ridicule (even if you do well ten times, you do one wrong) - We must not forget that the evil devil and Satan are trying to build a wall of distrust, complaints, and resentment by any means.
6. Move the stone - The Lord commands - The Lord's commands are beyond human common sense.
Persistent distrust and disobedience - stoned (38): man's renunciation
- I can smell it already (39): Giving up again - No hope
Obedience at the end - the stone is moved. - The work of God's miracles and answers comes down from heaven on the rope of obedience.
7. Prayer of thanksgiving in front of the grave - The importance of prayer, especially thanksgiving in advance, moves God.
4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
4:7 Then the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
8. Command to the corpse (Lazarus, come out) - A command in the name of Jesus overcomes the authority of death.
Nothing can defy the Lord's commands.
The Lord who rules over natural phenomena, the evil devil and Satan, and even the power of death. - Be still, waves. Go away, Satan. Come out, Lazarus!
3:6 And Peter said unto him, Silver and gold I have none, but what I have I give I give you, in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.
9. Results of Obedience - Leads to the proclamation of blessings: Let loose (44).
Obedience brings the blessing of being set free from all bondage. What are you tied to? disease? matter? business? rectal? study? family? sin? enjoyment? TV? will you admit it? heredity? custom? worldly knowledge? face?
The proclamation of the blessings of Jesus to let loose when we are absolutely obedient to His word will set us free from the oppression of all these things, in the name of Jesus.
