Title: Resurrection of Life and Resurrection of Judgment.
The Israelites in the Old Testament were enslaved in the land of Egypt for 430 years, but with God's help, they were saved. It can be seen that God did not forget the covenant he made with Abraham and carried it out. It is a process in which the Israelites, who had been slaves in Egypt as part of their salvation, came out of Egypt. With God's full help, they were able to cross the Red Sea safely. For the people of Israel, this is salvation. However, despite receiving God's indescribable grace, they did not give thanks and continued to grumble and complain on the road in the wilderness, and eventually they all died. Only Joshua and Caleb survived to enter the land of Canaan. This was because Joshua and Caleb's faith in God did not change.
This means of salvation is going on in the same way for us Gentiles today. Even today, if I accept that I will believe in Jesus, God will make a covenant with me through that, grant me salvation with that grace, and give the Holy Spirit as a gift as a proof. This is the new covenant made with the blood of Jesus.
When Abraham made a covenant with God, he made a covenant with the blood of animals, and as a proof of that promise, “If you live according to my words, I will also give you the land of Canaan flowing with milk and honey, so that you may live happily. This is a covenant that if you break the promise and do not live according to my words, I will drive you out of the land and give the land to another country so that you cannot live in it.”
This covenant is now applied to us Gentiles as well, and it is no longer a covenant made with the blood of animals, but a new covenant made with the blood of Jesus. If you live, I will make you live in the eternal kingdom of heaven, but if you break the promise you made with me (Jesus) and do not live according to the word, I will give you eternal punishment. will be
Why did the Israelites grumble and complain in the wilderness? It comes from an attitude of not believing in God to the end and disbelief. They spit out what comes out of themselves, which is unbelief in God. It is a sin before God.
It is the same today. Even though God the Holy Spirit is in us as the proof of salvation, we do not try to live according to God the Holy Spirit, we are blinded by worldly greed and try to take things of the world. These complaints do not come from heaven, but come from the heart of man, as the Lord said. “Out of the human heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, fornication, theft, false witness, and blasphemy” (Matthew 15:19).
In the Bible, there are many words of the Lord that He will judge in the last days, but who is He talking about? Are you saying that the unbelievers of this world will judge them because they do not believe in Jesus? Those who do not believe are not worthy of judgment because they have already been judged.
The word that the Lord will judge is not speaking about unbelievers in this world, but about all who believe in Jesus who have made a new covenant of blood with Jesus. Also in today's text, "Those who have done good will come out to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment." Then, what are good things and what are evil things? When the Lord speaks of goodness here, he is not saying that he is good according to the standards of the world, but of whether sin has completely disappeared from the heart of man. As mentioned in Matthew 15:19, the heart of a person is full of evil, how can anything good come out of it? will do What is in a person's heart is who I am. The Lord rebuked the Pharisees because they only cleansed the outside but were still stained with sin on the inside, but did not know how to repent and tried to reveal their righteousness.
For those who believe in Jesus, what is in their heart must already be destroyed by sin, but they are still alive and are resisting the Holy Spirit (Lord). When we say that we believe in Jesus, we must believe in the Lord in our heart, not just because we believe with our mouths. Those who believe in Jesus in the center of their hearts can truly do it because they must follow the same actions. However, those who do not believe in Jesus in their heart only say that they believe in Jesus, so their actions are hardly followed. Therefore, to those who cry out with their mouth only, Lord, Lord, because the evil that dwells in their hearts seldom disappears, they cannot do good, and they will be judged before the Lord on the last day.
Behold, Rahab the prostitute saved the spies! If he did not have faith in God in his heart, how could he have risked his life and acted like that? He must have been terribly afraid because everything in a person is the same. However, Rahab was able to take such a daring action not because she believed in herself, but because she believed more in God. This is faith. If we trust ourselves more than God, we cannot be faith.
Even today, we do not know how many people boast of believing in Jesus. However, if you look into their reality, you can see that they do not believe in Jesus, but much more in themselves. Even among those who believe in Jesus, there are many foolish people who do not try to live according to the Holy Spirit, but believe in themselves and act unconditionally, even though all that comes up in themselves is sin. Such people do not lose their self-centeredness no matter how hard they practice their faith life, so their sins and sins do not disappear in them. When they do not immediately repent, they will come out in the resurrection of judgment on the last day.
Daniel 12:2 also says, “Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting shame…” However, those who do not believe in the Word of God and believe in themselves more and live carelessly must face judgment before the Lord on the last day. Also, in Hebrews 10:26-29 of the New Testament, it says, “If, after we have received the knowledge of the truth, we have sinned falsely, there will be no more sacrifice for atonement, but there will be fearful waiting for judgment and fierce discontent that will consume those who oppose us. If the one who abolished the law of Moses died without mercy on account of two or three witnesses, how much more will the punishment that he deserves who has trampled on the Son of God and regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and dishonored the Spirit of grace. Do you think so?”
We must never take these words spoken of in the Bible in vain.
Now, whether I will come out in the resurrection of eternal life or in the resurrection of judgment, I can confirm myself by what I have in me. If there is still unrighteousness inside of me, I must quickly get down on my knees before the Lord and ask for help.
Repentance must occur at the moment of realization. Even if we didn't know it before, if we heard these words today and realized it, we need to put everything down before the Lord and repent. For those who repent, the Lord accepts and forgives. We must also repent while we are in the flesh. If you want to repent in the state of taking off your body (after the Resurrection), you cannot repent at that time. Only then will there be judgment. That is why the Lord is constantly crying out today to turn away from sin through the servants He has raised to avoid even one more judgment.
“I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live. But Christ lives in me, and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” (Galatians 6:20). Now, instead of saying that we believe in Jesus with our lips, let us truly believe and rely on Jesus from our heart! It is said that God is a Spirit, and He does not regard people according to their outward appearance, but looks at the heart of a person. Faith in Jesus from the heart is true faith. -Amen-
