Title: Rethinking David's Leadership

Today, we are rethinking David because of our desperate reality. A former president has been arrested for taking the largest bribe in the world since Dangun. Our people are unfortunate people who have never had a leader like him as president. Ex-presidents have consistently experienced unhappy lives: exile, murder, incarceration, expulsion by treason, or imprisonment.大統領 turned into 大盜領. While watching Roh Tae-woo's imprisonment and imprisonment, he seems to see the fall of the military culture and military rule of this land, but he will continue to shake off his anxiety about whether he will get rid of the ideologies of the past or create a new political culture and system. You can not. This reality calls us to rethink David.

First, David valued the legitimacy of power from an early age.

When he was pursued by King Saul, at least twice he had the opportunity to decisively eliminate King Saul and come to power. His subordinates were also urged to interpret it as a chance to come to power. But David adamantly refused, believing that it was not justified.

The first chance to rule came when King Saul led an army of 3,000 men to the wilderness of En-gedi, where David was hiding. The king went into the cave to defecate, and then David was able to kill the king. David's men encouraged him, saying, "The time has come when the LORD promised to hand over your enemies into your hands" (1 Samuel 24:4). The great authority was right in front of him, but David rebuked his men. “Can you kill the master whom God has anointed and consecrated?” David believed that just because he was an evil king, it was not a just power to get rid of him in an evil way. He did not believe in the legitimacy of . Instead of killing the king, he secretly cut off the hem of his robe to make his conscience work, to convince him. It was also to show that David had no intention of treason or a coup. The king knew this and wept for a moment to find his conscience, but the seat of the presidency hardened the king's heart again.

The second chance to take power came when the king, led by General Abner, again led an army of 3,000 men to fight David, who was hiding in the Wilderness of Jib. At this time, David infiltrated deep into the enemy camp. I entered the king's bedroom, where he fell into a deep sleep. At this time, David's subordinate, Abise, insisted, "God has delivered this enemy into the hands of the general today, so allow me to stab him with this spear at once." David also refused at this time. Again, to win back the wicked king's heart, he quietly retreated from the bedroom with only the king's spear and water bottle. Rather, he rebuked General Abner to serve King Saul well.

Here we learn the lesson that we Christians cannot take part in any coup. David has neither 5.16 nor 5.17. However, it is clear that many Christians did not realize David's greatness at all, as many Christians cooperated with the coup d' tat or remained silent in their reign.

Second, David was a human general who respected justice.

Third, he shows the image of a reconciler who respected the loyal enemy chief.

After David came to power, he continued to have conflicts with the remnants of King Saul. The leader of the remnant was General Abner. He made a peace treaty with David and wanted to become David's servant. So David and Abner were reconciled at Hebron. At this time, David's commander-in-chief, General Joab, fiercely opposed this settlement. And he killed General Abner without David's knowledge. David learned of this, and severely rebuked Joab, and held a grand funeral for Abner. He wept in front of the enemy's grave. Seeing this, both the soldiers and the people were delighted and moved by David's warm heart. He praised the conciliator's broad generosity.

Fourth, David was a general who truly cared for his men.

We are anxiously awaiting whether a new leader and a new political culture like the rising sun will rise on this land today. I really wonder if a new history as fresh as the new grass that sprouts after the rain will come to the Korean Peninsula. It is at this time that we must pray and dedicate ourselves so that many people like David can appear. This would be the minimum mission of a Christian in this age.
