Title: "Glittering Bridal Dress"
Bible: Revelation 19:6-10
On days like this, we think of the Lord who said that He would come sooner.
Today we are waiting for the day of the Lord's return. Because we are the brides of Jesus. Because we are the ones who will be the protagonists of the marriage supper of the Lamb, which must be in the last days.
This text is linked to Chapter 18 In chapter 18, people who had all hopes in this world and were intoxicated with pleasure were crying out with sorrowful hearts along with the fall of Babylon. Babylon, a city that was so great and seemed to last forever, so rich, splendid, and luxurious, was ultimately destroyed by God's judgment.
But at that very moment, the glory of Hallelujah is resounding in the sky. The theme of Hallelujah, the third and final glory song of the text, is "Our God reigns!" This is the theme of Revelation and the theme of the Bible. Who will rule this land, and who will rule us? It is only God.
After that, the wedding feast of the Lamb is held! There will be this great wedding at the end of history. The parable of the bride and groom best expresses the close relationship between the Lord and the saints, especially the beautiful relationship with first love.
We are already engaged to Jesus because we are people who have pledged to believe, serve, love, and be faithful to Jesus alone, and we are legally already married. Therefore, we must live a clean and pure life in this world.
In other words, we are brides who must adorn our bodies and minds. You have to be like a bride who has a wedding day and looks forward to it. Shouldn't it be a day to look forward to the day that we will live happily in a new way in that beautiful place with the one who comes to meet us? Above all, the bride's clothes must be prepared as in today's message. It is said that the bride of the Lamb was clothed in shiny and clean linen, and this is the bride's dress for the Lamb's wedding banquet.
Now in verse 8, more specifically, the bright and clean bride's garment is described. He says that it is none other than "the right conduct of the saints." Our holy life, right conduct, holy life! This is the wedding dress we will wear.
However, just as God allows the clean bride's dress, even the right conduct of the saints is controlled by God. Without God's grace, we cannot live a clean life in this polluted land.
Therefore, before this year is over, we must clean our spiritual clothes stained with all kinds of sins by immersing them in the blood of Jesus. We must cast off the things of darkness such as love of the world, all kinds of covetousness, greed, envy, hatred, pleasure, lewdness and debauchery.
And as we forgive, love, do good things, preach the gospel, and do more in the Lord's work, we must put on the clothes of righteousness and prepare ourselves. He says that these people are truly blessed people.
On this day that ends two thousand years, I hope that you will check out my dress as a bride-to-be of the glorious Lord.
