words of patience
Because you have kept my word of patience, I will also keep you from the hour of temptation, which is to come, when I come into all the world to test those who dwell on the earth. whoever sleeps, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God, and he will never go out again. Hear what he says to the churches (Revelation 3:10-13)
God has promised four blessings to those who keep the word of the Lord well and persevere. First, the promise of blessing gives many people a release from difficult trials and tribulations. What we do know for sure is that we are living in an age where we are increasingly subjected to various trials and tribulations unintentionally. Haven't we ever had the Seongsu Bridge collapsed and a huge department store collapsed in an instant? Not long ago, the twin towers of the International Trade Center in Manhattan were demolished by a terrorist group.
God must protect us every moment. In fact, there is nothing we can do to suffer in such a case. The time is coming when people will face more and more unimaginable tribulations, difficulties, and trials. However, God has promised, "Those who persevere, keep and hold on to the word of God will first be exempted from the times of tribulation and temptation."
You don't know how grateful we are for God to protect our church and make it one. In this sense, we can say, "Come to our church at dawn." This is because God has exempted those who are nurtured by God's Word and hold on to God's Word only and pray, from the difficult tribulation and temptations that ordinary people face. Hold fast to God's word. Then God will allow us to be exempt from the same tribulation and temptation that we face.
Second, He promised blessings. It is a promise that our crowns will not be taken away. Everyone has something called honor. Of course, when used badly, it is not virtuous, but when used constructively, it also has a good side. In this respect, God protects our honor. In fact, defamation is a terrifying crime. Isn't it really painful if one's reputation is tarnished? However, if we keep the word of the Lord and persevere to the end, God will protect our honor. It means that the crown that has been placed on us will never be taken away from us. Who can get such protection? It is only to those who depend on God's word, hold on to it, and go out faithfully.
Also, God made a third promise. It is a promise that makes us pillars in God's temple. The Philadelphia area in today's text is currently in Turkey. It was originally a place where many earthquakes occur. Wasn't there an earthquake in Turkey a few years ago? A few years ago, I visited there with my classmates. On a pilgrimage to the Holy Land there, I saw old large pillars. All the other walls and roofs had been torn down, but only a few pillars remained. John, the writer of this text, is speaking in such geographical and environmental conditions. He said, "I will make your saints who believe in the Lord 'pillars of the temple.'" It means that God gives rewards and guarantees for our work and hard work. In the world, there are many cases in which you work hard and work hard, but there is no reward. Who is God? He is the One who gives beauty and reward to the hard work of those who keep and obey the Word of God. In other words, God makes all of us a part of God.
He also promised the following blessings. He said that we would engrave our names in the New Jerusalem. When the Lord engraves his name on us, it means that we belong to the Lord. I am in the Lord and the Lord is in me. Among Koreans, there are people who live in the United States and live quite well when they go home. But when you hear them talk, you feel something. Even if they succeed in the white community and live in a big mansion, they cannot join the white community there, especially the famous clubs where white people gather. So the loneliness and loneliness that comes with it seems to be quite big. Where I belong is really important. As such, we believers are both citizens of the eternal kingdom of God and are promised a perfect relationship as children of God.
Now, let's keep the word of God diligently. And hold on to the end. Let's earnestly bear the grace of God's Word, receive the nourishment and training of the Word, and diligently testify of the word of the gospel while praying. This is what God has promised us. In fact, aren't we already receiving a lot of immunity from the same times of tribulation and temptation? You will feel that we are enjoying many such benefits. And our honor must be protected. God allows us to have great reward and joy in the work we do. He also promised that He would make them a pillar in the temple of the kingdom of God. In this way, I am in the Lord and the Lord completely restores the relationship in me. I am confident that in this difficult and dizzying time, we will hold onto the word of the Lord and become all the victorious and precious saints of Jehovah Nissi.
