Title: Revelation 03:7-14 Philadelphia Church
Contents Philadelphia Church, Revelation 3:7-14,
Philadelphia Church is the 6th church among the 7 churches in the Book of Revelation.
Together with Smyrna Church, it is a church without reproach, a church with only praise, and a church that has triumphed. So, if there is a church that can remain as a pillar in heaven forever, in other words, among the churches on earth right now, if there is a church that is closest to the Lord's will and can be a model, then it is the church of Philadelphia. Looking at this victorious church, we want to win too.
What is special about this church?
1. A church with little power
Little ability means not spiritual ability, but social ability, and no power in relation to the social status, status, or authority of the church or members. I mean, most of them are poor, powerless and needy people, but what made this church such a victorious church?
2. The church that kept the word, the church that did not betray the name of the Lord
When we live in the world, there are times when we have to put aside the principle of faith and the principle of the Word and follow the principles required by the world. In fact, faith is this battle, but even in this situation, the Philadelphia church members have faith that did not fall under the winds of the world, uncompromising faith, people who stubbornly lived by holding onto the principles of the Word to the end, sometimes suffering losses and injustice to keep these words Those who suffered, were misunderstood, and ridiculed, but endured to the end, so the word of the Lord is expressed as the word of patience (verse 10). This is what we call faithful. They were faithful and lived with unfaltering beliefs. It was true. I didn't lie.
Why do people lie? - Because they have two hearts, those who say that they have to lead a religious life and satisfy the world's greed will lie. But those who have only one way need not lie. A person who is not willing to flatter the world has no need to lie. These are people who have given up people's help or benefits in order to be true to the Lord, and once they receive help from someone, they have to look at that person.... It becomes difficult to be truthful before the Lord.
In a way, he could have lived with less power because he lived like this.
I look like that. Because they did not want to betray the name of the Lord, they lived by the principles of the Word in everything they did, so they would have had no choice but to live a life with little power even though they had many opportunities to acquire worldly abilities. But, despite this, what was the secret to being able to keep the word of the Lord and not betray the name of the Lord even with little power?
3. The Church with the Glory, the Church with the Crown
Because the Philadelphia church kept and held on to the word of the Lord, it tasted the glory of the word, the glory of the gospel, and the glory of the kingdom of God. and enjoyed And he continued to keep this glory.
What is a crown?
It is a reward, or glory, given to those who overcome. The Philadelphia church was victorious in the battle against the principles of the world and the principles of the Word, so it was enjoying, tasting, and keeping the glory of this gospel. I hope that you and I can also become victorious saints so that we can taste, enjoy, and protect this glory.
Example: I have a computer at home, but the people who use it are different,
What happened to you when you lived like this? will you wake up again?
see verse 9
Some of the synagogue of Satan, those who claim to be Jews and lie, will come back, prostrate at their feet, acknowledging that their beliefs are true. In other words, among opposers, persecutors, and evildoers, there are those who confess that their faith is the true faith and repent and come back while weeping. why are you the only one Hearing these words, but with patience and holding on to and keeping the word of the Lord, the hearts of some of these people finally melt, and they acknowledge their faith, repent and return. This is the true victory of faith. How glorious is this? Therefore, the church in Philadelphia is a truly victorious church.
The Lord is asking this church to hold on tighter so that no one can take away this crown and glory because you are holding on to the most precious thing now. (verse 11)
Satan is trying to take away this crown and this glory by tempting believers by giving away the world's vain glory endlessly to the believer who lives with this glory. And to those who have never tasted it, they continue to tempt them with the vain glory of this world, so that they do not know it.
4. The Church That Received Open Doors
See verse 8! The Lord gave them an open door.
What does this open door mean?
Acts 14:27 - The door of faith
2 Corinthians 2:12 - Gate of the Gospel
Colossians 4:3 - The door of evangelism
In a word, an open door is a door of opportunity to share the gospel.
As these people live with the conviction of the gospel through the gospel life of keeping the word, the Lord opened the door for them to spread the gospel effectively and effectively through their gospel life, so the church in Philadelphia is a sleeping church. No, it was a church that was awake while blowing the trumpet of the gospel, and the Lord blessed them with an open door to the gospel....So he opened the door so that more people could enter in this glory, which is the greatest church. Glory, not just an increase in numbers, but the open door is that people like these are transformed by the gospel and live boldly in faith through this church, and that God is expanding the kingdom of God through this church.
Who is the Lord who opened the door to them?
The one who has the key of David-
It is said that Christ, the Sovereign of the universe, opened the door in front of the Philadelphia church.
