Title: Reward for Disciples / Matthew 5:1-2
Content The reward for the disciple / Matthew 5:1-2
You can see from the text that the blessing Jesus has given us is different from what we thought. This blessing was given to the disciples as described in verse 1. That is why we can see what kind of reward those who are true disciples of Christ can receive. If we interpret this blessing, we can say that it is happiness. So, who is truly happy in Christ?
I. Blessed are the poor in spirit
Poverty here does not refer to material poverty. It refers to a person who is poor in spirit, that is, a person who is not arrogant and humble. It is saying that such a person will receive heaven.
II. Blessed are those who mourn
A mourner is someone who mourns for my sins. People are usually sad when they lose what they have. But the important thing here is to grieve over sin. There is no comfort for those who rejoice in sin. Consolation means that the problem is resolved. Please believe that those who repent with tears and mourn with beating their hearts will receive comforting blessings.
Ⅲ. Blessed are the meek
In the world, there are cases where the meek are regarded as ugly and despised. But this character is the character of Jesus. The meek do not grumble and wait for the will of God. He is a person who only depends on God and diligently does good. He said that he would give the promised land of Canaan to such a person. It speaks of the kingdom of God.
IV. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness.
If there is anything we should seek with a panting heart, it is the righteousness of God. Those who hunger and thirst for righteousness will be satisfied. It means that you will find satisfaction.
Ⅴ. Blessed are the merciful
Mercy is a characteristic of God. This mercy was precisely demonstrated by Jesus on the cross. He said that mercy comes from God, and if we give it to others, mercy will return to us.
Ⅵ. Blessed are the pure in heart
Another interpretation of the pure mind is a simple mind, that is, a person who does not have two hearts. People who say they believe in God and are drawn into the world have two hearts. The simple-minded person sees nothing but God. And he said that such a person would be able to see God.
VII. Blessed are the peacemakers
We were originally enemies with God, but we have achieved peace by sending His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Those who have the peace of God can find peace with others.
Ⅷ. Blessed are those who are persecuted for the sake of Christ.
According to the Word, there is persecution that comes for the sake of , and there is persecution that is received because of and refer to Jesus. He is saying that those who suffer persecution in the world for Jesus' sake will be blessed because of it.
*Conclusions are given.
There is a heavenly reward given to the disciples who follow Jesus. And the prize money is huge. I hope that all of you will become true disciples who enjoy this blessing.
